Maintaining and Refreshing Your Traction with Apolla Socks

The grip on your Apolla Shocks is designed to be customized to YOUR floor and YOUR feet. Here's how to think about it when something feels off.

Brand-new traction can feel TOO sticky. That's intentional.

As you wear and wash your Apolla Shocks, the surface tack wears down to your preferred level. This is the break-in period. Don't try to refresh during this stage.

If it gets too slippery, refresh it

Use E6000 Spray Adhesive (https://www.apollaperformance.com/products/e6000-spray-adhesive):

- Shake the bottle thoroughly before each use.

- Spray 5-10 pumps on the traction area only.

- Let dry 10-20 seconds before stepping on the floor.

- Apply only where you want grip.

If the floor is the issue, traction may not be the right pick

On a professionally prepped marley or sprung studio floor that already feels grippy underfoot, NON-traction is the cleaner choice. The floor is doing the work. Adding traction to a tacky surface can over-engage and concentrate residue. See How do I decide between traction or non-traction? (https://intercom.help/apolla-performance-wear/en/articles/11853616-how-do-i-decide-between-traction-or-non-traction)

Preserve traction life:

- Wash less often. Apolla Shocks resist odor without frequent washing.

- Use the mesh bag during wash and dry cycles.

- Avoid wearing traction-enhanced socks on carpets or inside shoes. Use NON-traction for those situations.

Slippery from the very first wear, and refreshing doesn't help?

Rare, but it happens. That's a defective traction case. Email hello@apollaperformance.com so we can troubleshoot or replace.

Floor-safety note:

Floor and finish compatibility varies. Before using traction, E6000, rosin, or any cleaner on a studio floor, home floor, stage, or turning tool, confirm with the floor or tool manufacturer, your studio owner, or the facility manager. Always spot-test first in a hidden area and follow that surface's care instructions. Apolla cannot guarantee results on every surface and cannot take responsibility for floor or tool damage caused by unsupported cleaners, refreshers, failure to spot-test, or use outside our care guidance.
