Apolla Socks®: Choosing the Right Version for Your Needs and Floor
Apolla Shocks come in two versions with the same patented compression support. The traction version adds our patented refreshable adhesive grip layer to the bottom. The right pick depends on how your floor actually feels under foot, not just what it's made of. Not all marleys behave the same.
Quick guide by floor feel
- Already grippy or tacky (well-maintained pro marley, sprung studio floor, freshly prepped stage, spin disc): NON-traction. Your floor is doing the grip work.
- Slippery, even if it's marley (worn or dusty studio marley, home hardwood, laminate, polished gym wood, tile): WITH traction. This is what our refreshable grip is for.
- Carpet, rug, or yoga mat: NON-traction. Traction needs a hard surface to engage.
- In shoes (tap, jazz, ballet flats, tennis shoes, sneakers): NON-traction. The shoe is your grip.
- Spin disc, turning board, DancinDisc, or pivot tool: NON-traction. The goal of these tools is to practice turns, and the disc often already provides the right amount of grip for turn practice.
- You travel between studios with different floor conditions: one pair WITH, one pair NON. You'll always have the right one.

A note on marley
Marley isn't one thing. Studio quality, age, humidity, cleaning state, even the day's traffic all change how it feels. The same kind of marley in two different rooms can need two different recommendations. Trust how the floor feels under YOUR foot in the moment rather than picking based on material name alone.
Where NOT to wear Apolla Shocks
We do not recommend wearing Apolla Shocks on concrete, turf, or any floor that could snag the material. Outdoor surfaces, rough flooring, and abrasive surfaces can lead to holes or defects and shorten the life of the Shock. Apolla is not responsible for damage resulting from wear outside our care guidance. For the full care guide, see apollaperformance.com/pages/how-to-wear (https://www.apollaperformance.com/pages/how-to-wear).
Refreshing your grip
When your grip wears down, restore it with E6000 Spray Adhesive (https://www.apollaperformance.com/products/e6000-spray-adhesive). Shake the bottle thoroughly. Spray 5-10 pumps on the traction area only. Let it dry 10-20 seconds before stepping on the floor. Floor-safety note:
Floor and finish compatibility varies. Before using traction, E6000, rosin, or any cleaner on a studio floor, home floor, stage, or turning tool, confirm with the floor or tool manufacturer, your studio owner, or the facility manager. Always spot-test first in a hidden area and follow that surface's care instructions. Apolla cannot guarantee results on every surface and cannot take responsibility for floor or tool damage caused by unsupported cleaners, refreshers, failure to spot-test, or use outside our care guidance.
