The App Store Performance feature measures your appˈs performance in terms of Impressions, Store Views, Installs, and Sales. Additionally, the feature shows the conversion rates between metrics.

You can select to view your App Store Performance by Sources or Countries. You can also select the date range.

Sources

Overview

When you are in the Sources view, you can see which channel is the most successful for finding and downloading your app. This way you see which channel is the most profitable and which conversion rates are the best or need improvement.

The Source view provides the following information:

  • App Store Search: Users who found the app by searching for specific keywords within the Apple App Store.

  • App Store Browse: Users who found the app while browsing the Featured, Categories, and Top Charts sections.

  • Web Referrer: Users who found your app on another website.

  • App Referrer: Users who found your app on another app.

The Metrics Table

All the views have a metrics table with Impressions, Store Views, Installs, Sales, and Revenue as well as the Conversion Rates (CVR) between each step. This makes it easy for you to track the metrics all the way throughout the user journey.

  • Chart: Toggle to visualize the information in the chart

  • Impressions: How often your app was viewed in the Featured, Categories, Top Charts, and Search sections of the store. All Impressions are counted, meaning if the same person saw your app twice, it will count as two impressions.

  • Store Views: How often your appˈs product page/ app store listing was viewed. All Store Views are counted, this means that if the same person visited your app store listing twice, it will count as two Store Views.

  • Installs: How many users downloaded the app for the first time.

  • Sales: For paid apps, this is the number of app sales. For free apps, this is the number of in-app purchases.

  • Revenue: how much money you earned from the sales in the selected time frame.

  • Details: Detailed view of your conversion rate broken down per day in the selected date range.

  • CVR: there are three types of conversion rates presented in the table

                   → From impressions to store views - the percentage of impressions that became an app store listing visit.
                   → From store views to installs - the percentage of app store listing visitors that downloaded your app.
                   → From installs to sales - the percentage of people who downloaded your app and spent money on it.

Actions that you can take on the table:

  1. You are able to filter the channels by using the "Search type;"

  2. You can click on "Filters" to hide Conversion Rates from the table;

  3. Toggle the buttons in the chart column to select which sources you would like to visualize in the chart;

In the example above, you selected 3 channels to see in the chart, and here is the result:

We can clearly see that in the last 30 days, your main source of installs was the App Store Search in comparison to App Referrer and App Store Browse.

4. Compare Sources

You are able to compare sources by checking the boxes next to them, then pressing the "Compare # Soucers" button. Then, you'll be shown a visual chart that allows you to easily compare an app conversion rate across your selected traffic sources.

You are able to compare sources by tickling the boxes next to them. Then, you'll be shown a visual chart that allows you to easily compare an app conversion rate across your selected traffic sources.

To change which conversion rate is showing in the chart, use the selection buttons above the chart. Hover over the chart to view the selected app conversion rate for each of the traffic sources.

Toggle a traffic source on or off in the visual chart by clicking on the respective colors below the chart.

5. Conversion Rate Details

By clicking on "Details," you can have a detailed view of your Conversion Rates broken down by day.

Hoove over the chart to get detailed information for a day. You are also able to export the detailed CVR view on a CSV file.

You can change the date range, and also the Source that you would like to see daily broken down information.

You can also toggle a traffic source on or off in the visual chart by clicking on the respective colors below the chart.

Countries

When you are in the Countries view, you can see a list of all countries with the same metrics table explained above. This makes it easy for you to determine which countries are performing the best in terms of Impressions, Store Views, Installs, Sales, and Revenue.

At first, you will see the total number of downloads in the chart, and in the table the information per country.

Actions that you can take on the table:

  1. You are able to filter the countries by using the "Search type;"

  2. You can click on "Filters" to hide Conversion Rates from the table;

  3. Toggle the buttons in the chart column to select which countries you would like to see in the chart;

In the example above, we can see the installs for the last 30 days in France, Germany, and Great Britain. It's easy to see, that Great Britain needs more attention, while in France we should keep up with our current strategy.

4. Compare Countries

You are able to compare countries by checking the boxes next to them, then pressing the "Compare # Countries" button. Then, you'll be shown a visual chart that allows you to easily compare an app conversion rate across your selected countries.

To change which conversion rate is showing in the chart, use the selection buttons above the chart. When we compare France with Great Britain, we see in the charts below, that our problem in Great Britain isn't converting our Store Views into Installs, but rather converting the Impressions into a Store View. So, now, we can have a starting point when optimizing our app for Great Britain.

Hover over the chart to view the selected app conversion rate for each of the countries.

5. Conversion Rate Details

By clicking on "Details," you can have a detailed view of your Conversion Rates broken down by day in a specific country.

Hoove over the chart to get detailed information for a specific day. You are able to export the detailed CVR view on a CSV file. You can also toggle a traffic source on or off in the visual chart by clicking on the respective colors below the chart.

Use the dropdown menu to change the country and date range.

Date Range

You can select a date range by clicking the dropdown menu next to the dates (e. g. yesterday, last 7 days, last 30 days, or you can select a custom range).

Information Order

You can rearrange the information order in all charts, by clicking on the metrics you would like to focus on.

In the example below, I clicked on Impressions until I saw the arrow up, which means I see the channel which fewer impressions first. On the second image, the order is based on Installs, starting with my strongest channel on top.

You can do the same for all the tables.
