Using Applause Outside the U.S.? Here’s What You Need to Know

This outlines the access restrictions and compliance requirements for using the Applause platform outside the United States.

Overview

To ensure Applause meets compliance and security requirements, access to the Applause platform can only be accessed through U.S.-based IP addresses. This article explains why the restriction exists, what users may experience when accessing Applause from outside the U.S., and how to maintain access to Applause.

This is specific for the Applause admin portal - which is accessed at my.applausehq.com/login

The Applause mobile app is a different access. Users in the United States and Canada, can download the Applause mobile app in those countries. Anyone outside of these 2 countries, the Applause app is not available today.

Why Is Access Restricted to U.S. IPs?

Applause enforces U.S.-only access for several reasons: To meet regulatory and security standards, these measures ensure platform security, prevent unauthorized data access, and comply with specific geographic data handling policies. Exceptions for individual users are not available, as access controls are applied uniformly across all users.

What Happens If You’re Outside the U.S.?

If you attempt to access Applause from a non-U.S. IP address, you may encounter:

  • A blocked login screen or timeout error

  • A 403 Forbidden or Access Denied message

  • Inability to view or interact with dashboards or reports.

Firewall Access Policy

To maintain compliance and ensure secure platform usage, the web application firewall is configured to block all incoming requests originating from countries not listed below. Access is limited to the following regions for security reasons:

  • United States

  • Canada

  • Guam

  • Northern Mariana Islands

  • Puerto Rico

  • U.S. Virgin Islands

  • United States Minor Outlying Islands
    (Includes Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, Midway Atoll, Palmyra Atoll, and Wake Island)

Accessing Applause from Unsupported Regions

  • If you're outside of the U.S., you can access Applause by using a VPN that establishes a secure connection through a U.S.-based IP address.

  • Follow these steps to use a VPN for accessing Applause:

  1. Choose a Reliable VPN Service: Select a VPN provider that offers servers in the United States.

  2. Install the VPN Application: Download and install the VPN application on your device.

  3. Connect to a U.S.-Based Server: Open the VPN application and connect to a server located in the United States.

  4. Access ApplauseHQ: While connected to the VPN, navigate to the ApplauseHQ login page and sign in as usual.

  • Ensure your VPN service is secure and trustworthy to protect data privacy.

  • Be mindful of applicable laws and regulations regarding VPN usage in your current region.
