Users with the appropriate permissions can set bonus values at the user group level, ensuring that each group receives the correct bonus attribution when the triggering event has been initiated.

💡 FAQs
Q: Do users notice any changes to their current setup from what was previously set-up before this UI update?
A: By default, the new Auto Bonus settings will retain each company’s existing configuration, and that configuration will be applied to all user groups that have been created. If users do not wish to take advantage of the new customization options, their day-to-day experience will remain unchanged.
This update primarily addresses feature requests from organizations that want the ability to define unique Auto Bonus amounts by user, user group, or location. For companies that don’t require this flexibility, their setup can remain as is—the system will continue to function exactly as it does today.
Q: How do the users groups in Bonus settings differ from the user groups in Scorecard settings, or the User groups in the Home tab?
A: There’s no difference. The user groups created here, will also be available at the Scorecard settings. If I have created a “residential technician” user group, it will be an option in Auto bonus settings, as well as scorecard settings.
Q: What do I need to be aware of when setting up unique user group bonus settings?
A: Similar to how user groups work within Scorecards, user groups can exist at both the company level and the location level. Location-level user groups can be customized versions of the company-level defaults.
If a company wants a location-specific user group’s bonus setup to apply to an employee, they must ensure that the employee’s primary location is assigned to that same location. This ensures the correct bonus settings are applied automatically.
Q: Can I create bonus settings unique to a location?
A: Yes, this is one of the primary use cases for the new Auto Bonus setup. Admins with the appropriate permissions (either “Can manage company bonus settings” or “Can manage location bonus settings”) will be able to create and manage location-specific bonus configurations.
Example:
A company may want to boost Google reviews for a newly opened location by setting a $10 per review bonus, while keeping the company-wide default at $5.
Q: Can I create bonus settings unique to a user group at a specific location?
A: Yes. Users with the “Can manage location bonus settings” permission can edit user groups at the location level. Any bonus settings defined for that location-specific user group will automatically apply to all users within that location who belong to that group.
Q: Can I edit the bonus categories for each bonus type in a unique user group?
A: No. Bonus categories are managed at the company-level user group and apply globally across all user groups. These categories cannot be edited or customized at the location or individual user group level.
Q: What new permissions are available with these updates?
A: Two new permissions have been introduced:
Can manage company bonus settings
Can manage location bonus settings
Users with company-level permissions can edit user group bonus settings that apply across the entire organization.
Users with location-level permissions can edit bonus settings for user groups tied to the specific locations they have access to.
Example:
If a user only has permission for one location, that will be the only location visible in the user group dropdown.
Q: What auto bonus settings are not able to be edited at a user group level?
A: The following permissions will not be editable at a user group level. (reminder the General User group serves as the default user group at a company level) Think of this as the “master user group”
Automate team payout- the automate team payout setting will only be togglable at the General user group level, and this setting will apply to all user groups/across all locations.
The bonus categories associated with auto bonuses will only be configurable at the general user group level, and apply to all other user groups.
Reminder: Applause fronts the bonus payments so technicians receive those in real-time, the company then pays off that balance through your set-up from Bonuses > Payments.
Regardless of the type of bonus sent out, the employees receive the full amount and no fee is taken out.
A small ACH transaction charge is applied to your total bonus spend, when you pay off your bonuses balance. This is to cover the ACH transaction fee and for the "fronting" of the bonus money so that employees receive them in real time.
