Migrate to the updated Customer Portal extension (action required by 14 May 2026)

Why we're splitting the Shopify Customer Account extension portal into smaller blocks, what's required to migrate, and how to do it.

⚠️ Action Required by 14 May 2026

If your store is on the older version of our Shopify Customer Account extension portal, you must switch to the new split-block setup before 14 May 2026.

After that date:

  • The older extension will be permanently retired.

  • Your customer portal will stop loading for subscribers.

πŸ” Why We're Doing This

Shopify enforces a hard 64 KB size cap on every customer-account UI extension.

Our original portal was a single block β€” but as we kept adding features such as:

  • Skip

  • Swap

  • Edit

  • Bundle support

  • Order history

  • Quick actions

  • ...and more

…we ran out of room within Shopify's size limit.

Our Solution

To stay within the cap and keep shipping new features, we split the portal into multiple smaller extension blocks, each scoped to a single feature.

The Upside for You and Your Subscribers

βœ… The customer portal loads noticeably faster, because each block only ships the code it actually uses.

πŸ“¦ What Changed

The single "Subscription management" block has been replaced by a set of focused "Customer Portal" blocks.

⚠️ All of them are required. They work together to give subscribers a complete portal, and missing any one will leave parts of the portal non-functional.

The Full Block List

πŸ› οΈ How to Migrate

Follow these 5 steps in order to complete your migration.

Step 1: Open Your Customer-Account Theme Editor

You can do it directly from Shopify Admin

  • Go to Online store β†’ Edit theme β†’ Customer accounts β†’ Customize.

Step 2: Add All of the Following Blocks (All Required)

Add all 8 blocks to your customer-account page:

  • βœ… Subscription Management

  • βœ… Subscription Detail

  • βœ… Subscription Quick Action

  • βœ… Edit Subscription

  • βœ… Upcoming and Past Order Details

  • βœ… Subscription Bundle

  • βœ… Subscription Product Update

Step 3: About the "Add to Menu" Prompt ⭐

When you add each block, Shopify will ask whether to add it to the customer account menu.

Block

Add to Menu?

Reason

Subscription Management

βœ… YES

This is the entry point your subscribers click into.

Subscription Detail

❌ Don't add to menu

Reached via deep-link from inside the list.

Subscription Quick Action

❌ Don't add to menu

Reached via deep-link from inside the list.

Edit Subscription

❌ Don't add to menu

Reached via deep-link from inside the list.

Upcoming and Past Order Details

❌ Don't add to menu

Reached via deep-link from inside the list.

Subscription Bundle

❌ Don't add to menu

Reached via deep-link from inside the list.

Subscription Product Update

❌ Don't add to menu

Reached via deep-link from inside the list.

πŸ’‘ Why this matters: These blocks are reached via deep-links from inside the list and don't need their own menu entry. Adding them would just clutter the customer's account navigation.

Step 4: Remove the Deprecated Block

If your customer-account page still has the old "Subscription management" block:

  • Remove it.

  • It will stop working after 14 May 2026.

Step 5: Click Save

Click Save in the theme editor.

πŸŽ‰ That's it. The new portal is live for your subscribers as soon as you save.

❌ What Happens If I Don't Migrate

After 14 May 2026, the older Subscription management block will be permanently removed.
