Before configuring any membership plans, it is important to make sure that you have a membership product(s) set as a product in your store first.

There are two ways to do this.

Method 1: Creating the product in your Shopify Admin

Go to the Product section in your Shopify Admin, and in here, you can click to add a product in the upper right-hand corner.

You will need to enter some basic information for your product, including a title, description, an image, and an appropriate price.

Also, a membership product is a digital product by nature, so make sure that the physical product toggle is off in the Shipping section.

If you want to create different variants of your membership product, you can do so in the Variants section. This is where you can define different aspects of your product.

The variants here will be related to different renewal frequencies. As an example, we will add 3 types of frequencies here, which will be monthly, quarterly, and annually.

In addition, if needed, assign different images to the different variants, different price, the quantity of the different item variants you have on hand, a Stock Keeping Unit or SKU, which will help you keep track of your inventory of the product variant, which you can name however you would like, and a barcode if you'd like.

When you are finished, hit Save in the bottom right to finalize.

Your product and variants will be set in Shopify.

Method 2: Creating the product inside Plans & Perks in Appstle

Note: This method will only work when creating a brand new plan.

Aftering clicking to create a new membership plan in this section, click this button.

This will reveal new fields for you to fill out: the URL for the membership product, the price, the description (optional), and an image URL (optional).

You will now need to fill out the rest of your membership plan's details, including the renewal rate, any trials/discounts you are interested in configuring, etc. For more information on this, please refer to part 2 here.

Aftering hitting Save, the product will automatically be listed in your Shopify Admin, and by extension, your store under the URL you wrote out.
