Detailed overview of offering a comprehensive member portal to your customers who have taken membership plans in your Shopify store

Extensive research and our own experience working with thousands of merchants show that a member portal page that is easy to understand and quick to navigate for your store's members increases their loyalty and spending share (in your store)!

With Appstle Memberships, you can allow your members to pause/resume, upgrade/update, change payment method, or cancel the membership. Appstle also enables you to fully customize your member portal.

How can members view their membership portal?

There are two main ways members can manage their memberships.

  1. Customer Login: The first way for members to manage their memberships is through their customer profiles! The process is the same as creating a regular customer profile in your store. They will then be able to manage their memberships through their portal.


    Once members log in to their account in your store, they will see the "Manage Membership" button on their account page. This will take them to the member portal.

  1. Magic link: As soon as a customer purchases a membership plan for your store, they will get a welcome email (this is set by default unless you disable the toggle). This email has a link to manage their membership with your store - the magic link! This enables members to control or manage their membership, without a formal login.

    NOTE: Please note that the magic link is valid only for 7 days per Shopify security guidelines, after which the link automatically expires.

How can members pause/resume, skip and cancel their memberships?

With Appstle, your members can upgrade, pause/resume, or cancel their membership. However, as the merchant and store owner, you ultimately decide how much control you want to give your members.

To set the Member Portal scope and rules for your store, please go to

Settings > Customizations > Member Portal Permissions. See the below screenshot for your reference:

The portal feature toggles are enabled by default, and as the merchant, you can choose which toggles to keep and which ones to disable. Once the member portal feature toggles are finalized and saved on your end, your members will be able to conveniently manage their memberships (within the scope you set) from their member portal.

Membership renewal can be skipped for specific periods by clicking on Upcoming Member renewal.

What are Appstle's Member portal sub-features?

Appstle Membership currently enables you to offer your members the ability to pause and resume, update/upgrade, and cancel their memberships. We are happy to share that we are currently working on adding some more features to the member portal, to help you give a richer experience to your members. Please keep visiting the settings in your admin page regularly to get an update on the latest features. Also, if there are any features you wish to be added to the Member Portal, feel free to ping us, or record in the 'Request a Feature' section in Settings > General Settings > Request a Feature.

How can you customize the membership portal?

To customize your customers' member portal, navigate to Settings > Customizations > Member Portal Labels. Here, you can edit and update the names of all the labels which your members will see on their user/profile page.

A tip from us: The Member Portal page is front-facing, and will be your members' primary navigation and interaction point for them. Making it as user (members) friendly as possible will win you brownie points and extended loyalty from your members!

You can also make changes to the member portal using custom CSS code in Settings > Customizations > Member Portal CSS. For this, you have to paste the custom CSS code to the "Member Portal CSS":
