Overview

So you've tested the product on your store's test themes, but you're still unsure and want to test how the membership experience will be for your customers first-hand. This article will help you run a test purchase through your store with the exact procedure that customers would follow.

Step 1: Create a Membership product

It is important that you have created the product in Shopify for which you want to offer Membership, as you have to add the product in membership plans.

Step 2: Add the products to the Membership plan.

After completing step 1. you simply need to create a membership plan.

You can create it in the Dashboard or in the Merchant admin section.

Then, to create the Membership plans of your choice in your store, you can click on ‘Membership Plans’ on the left side panel.

Step 3: Test the checkout process

Once you successfully follow the above steps, it's time to test the checkout process. First, purchase a product you have added to the membership plan. You should see the membership widget on the product page, but if you can't, contact Appstle support and we will help you out.

Once you add a product to your cart, you will be redirected to the checkout page. On that page, if you see the the plan name and the recurring total label, it means the product has been successfully added to the membership.

You can then complete the checkout like this, or use a discount code.

Step 4: Managing Membership as the customer.

1. You will get an email for a product Membership, which contains a link that you can click on to manage it. It's a magic link.

2. You can also sign up on their store using the same email address that you used to purchase your membership. Once you log in, you will see the "Manage Membership" button under their account page.

If you don't see the Manage membership button, contact us and we will integrate it for you.

Step 5: Membership management for a merchant

After a few minutes when the order is placed you will see the membership in the Membership section.

Managing a membership from your end can be important for a variety of reasons. For example, if you need to change the next billing date for a customer, or need to cancel a customer's membership you can simply do that from the membership section, shown below:
