🚀 How to Make “Add to Cart” Members-Only

🧩 Step 1: Create a Membership Plan

Before setting up any perks, make sure you’ve created a Membership Plan.

🎁 Step 2: Enable the Membership Perk

  1. Open your Membership Perks section.

  2. Select Exclusive Member Content.

  3. From the dropdown menu, choose:
    🔹 Limit access to Add to Cart Button

Use Add to Cart restrictions selectively to:

  • Promote premium products

  • Encourage upgrades to memberships

  • Increase perceived exclusivity without blocking your entire catalog​

🛑 Step 3: Choose a Restriction Method

You can restrict Add to Cart access for non-members using either of the methods below.

🔗 Method 1: Restriction via URL Path

Use this method when you want to restrict access based on specific product page URLs.

Steps:

  1. Enable Advanced Fields

  2. Choose one of the following options:

Exact

  • Hides Add to Cart only on the exact product page URL you specify.

Contains (Default option)

  • Hides Add to Cart on any product page whose URL contains the specified keyword.

⚠️ Important: The default behavior is Contains.

🏷️ Method 2: Restriction via Product Attributes

Prefer not to use URLs? You can restrict Add to Cart using product attributes instead.

Available Attribute Types:

1️⃣ Product Tag

  • Add a tag to your product in Shopify.

  • All products with this tag will have Add to Cart hidden for non-members.

2️⃣ Collection

  • Hide Add to Cart for products that belong to selected collections.

3️⃣ Product Type / Product Vendor

  • These values are available in the Shopify Product Admin.

  • Copy and paste the exact value into the corresponding field.

✅ Final Step: Save the Plan

Once saved:

  • Only logged-in members can see the Add to Cart button

  • Non-members will see your custom blocked message

⚠️ Important:
Members must be logged in using the same email or user ID they used to purchase the membership.
