With this activity rule, your customers can earn points by specifically purchasing products on subscription plans.

To set up, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to the Activity Rules section.

  2. Click on Create Rule

  3. In the Name section, name the Activity Rule.

  4. For Customer Facing Label, describe the activity rule with a brief explanation on how points can be earned.

  5. For Customer Facing Icon, provide the URL of an icon or image, or leave it blank to use the rule-based global icon from the widget settings or the default image.

  6. For Base Points, input the amount of points a customer gets once the conditions of this activity rule are met.

  7. Add a value into Maximum earn limit per purchase if you want to set a ceiling for the number of points that can be earned from a single purchase. If not, leave it blank.

  8. Use the 4 options underneath to set additional parameters for earning points (Give points for first order only, Give points for tax, Give points for Shipping, Disable points for products on sale).

  9. Auto Approval Days can be set if you wish to give yourself time to approve customers' loyalty points upon completing activity rules.

    1. If you do not manually approve the points yourself during the interval you set (in days), after it passes, the points will automatically be assigned to the customers' accounts.

    2. Leave 0 into this field if you want the points to be assigned to customer accounts immediately.

  10. Click the checkbox for Enable Activity Interval Per Customer if you want to limit how many times a customer can complete this activity rule per given interval of time (days, weeks, months, years, or lifetime).

  11. The next section, Tagging, is optional to complete. You can add customer tags (obtainable from the Customers section of your Shopify Admin) to allow or deny certain subsets of your customer base from taking advantage of this activity rule (ex: New Customers, Wholesale Customers, etc.)

  12. For Notification, you can input a message customers will get when they get their points

  13. For Status, set the activity rule as either Active or Paused.

When you are finished, scroll back up and hit the Save button.

Use Cases

This rule is all about encouraging subscription purchases. The main idea behind subscriptions is that they provide a consistent stream of revenue, so if your business benefits from this type of business model, use this rule to your advantage.
