Subscriptions - Split Contract

One of our key functionalities in the merchant portal (Navigate to Subscriptions > Select specific subscription ID) is the ability to split a subscription contract. This can be useful for certain situations, such as if a customer reaches out to you requesting that some of their subscription products be delivered over to a friend or relative instead of them (you would need to update the new contract with the new recipient's shipping information as well).

Subscriptions that contain more than one product will have this button on the top bar of the portal, as shown in the screenshot below.

Clicking it will bring up a pop-up menu that allows you to select which products you want to separate from the primary contract. You, as the merchant, have the freedom to choose as many of these as you wish to create separate contracts out of.

Beneath that are options for splitting with or without placing an order.

Splitting Without vs With Order Placed

Split without order placed, will not place an immediate order for the product(s) when the new contract is created, but will place orders from the next scheduled billing cycle onwards.

As an example, if you split this contract on the 15th of a month, and the original subscription contract was set to renew on the 1st of each month, the new contract will not place an order on the 15th, and instead renew on the 1st of the next month.

Split with order placed, in contrast, will place an immediate order for the product(s) in the new contract.

As an example, if you split this contract on the 15th of a month, the new contract will place an order immediately on that same day, regardless of when the original subscription was meant to renew.
