Bulk Automation
Updated over 3 months ago

Do you want to make changes on a large scale all at once? Use our bulk automation feature.

This is one of the most powerful features Appstle Memberships offers.. It lets you modify important customer information using their unique IDs. You can easily access this feature through the dedicated section in the Memberships dashboard: Settings > Subscriber Acquisition & Automations > Bulk Automations.

Below, we will further describe how to configure.

Update Membership Status

This autmation requires two elements: the IDs of the members to make changes and the new status their memberships will be updated to.

You can obtain member data in the Memberships section and export it to your email. You can either export all of your data or just a subset by making use of filters, such as membership type, date created, or membership status.

When you receive the data, you can either manually add a column of commas in this file to separate ID numbers or run it through 3rd party software to do the same.

When that is done, you can copy and paste all of the relevant IDs into the field, then select the new status their memberships will update to, either active, paused, or canceled, and then run the automation.

Hide Memberships

Somewhat similar in setup to the previous automation, although only the membership IDs from your exported file are required. Enter them and then run the automation.

Update Next Renewal Date Time

This automation can be used to change the time of day that all or some of your memberships get renewed.

You can enter the specific hour and minute that this occurs, and even adjust the offset hours based on GMT time to account for time zones if necessary.

Update Next Renewal Date

Similar in concept to the previous, but configured differently. This only affects the date and time for members whose IDs you put into this field.

Enter the relevant member IDs then click this calendar icon in the field at the bottom to set a new date and time.

Replace Removed Variant

This automation can be useful if you no longer provide a variant of a membership plan and wish to move your existing members to a variant that you still offer.

For instance, if you offered a gold-tier membership on a monthly and yearly basis, but no longer offer the monthly option, you can enter the name of the monthly option into Removed Variant Title.

Then in the second, click the link to bring up a pop-up menu displaying your store’s products. Search for your product and variants, select the variant you wish to move the members who have purchased the monthly option over to, then run the automation.

Price Automation

This automation is for changing prices on your existing members’ products. 'Existing' is important to note, as this will not affect membership product prices for new incoming members.

This could be useful if, for example, you wish to offer grandfathered rates for loyal members. For example, if a membership product you offer is $30 a month, you can reward your existing members for staying with it by offering a discount on that rate.

Search for your membership product using the link to open a pop-up menu, enter the new price you want to offer, then run the automation.

Replace Automation

This automation can swap one membership product for another for your existing members.

The first product selection field is for the product to be swapped, and the second is for the product to be swapped over to.

Update Minimum Number of Orders

Minimum Number of Orders is a parameter you can set when configuring your membership plan(s). It represents how many billing cycles customers need to fulfill before they are allowed to change anything in their membership or cancel it.

Regardless of what value you set in this field when you created your membership plan(s), you can enter a number into the field at the bottom to update the minimum order value of your existing members.

Update Maximum Number of Orders

Minimum Number of Orders is a parameter you can set when configuring your membership plan(s). It represents how many billing cycles customers need to fulfill before their memberships are automatically canceled.

Regardless of what value you set in this field when you created your membership plan(s), you can enter a number into the field at the bottom to update the maximum order value of your existing members.

Delete Automation

This automation will remove a selected product from your existing members’ memberships entirely.

You can choose to select an individual product using the Variant Id field or remove all products that were removed from your Shopify Admin instead using the toggle at the bottom.
