Creating a setback

Setbacks require a site boundary to exist.

Select your site and click the + button in the Setbacks section of the right sidebar to create a new setback.

Setbacks can be given a distance per side as well as a height. You can press Tab to cycle through the side dimensions, click on the particular side dimension you want to edit, or enter a value into the Distance input in the right sidebar to set all sides to the same value.

When you’re done, press the X or in the right sidebar or press Escape to deselect the setback.

Repeat the steps above to create as many setbacks as needed.

Sloped setbacks

In you have created multiple setbacks, any setback above the ground level setback will have a Sloped/Vertical parameter.

Setbacks are set to vertical by default. You can see what sloped and vertical setbacks looks like in the screenshots below.

Adjusting the top of the envelope

When you create one more setbacks you will see an Envelope section appear in the right sidebar when the site is selected.

The site envelope top is Flat by default - this means that there is a flat plane created at the setback height taken from the height reference point (see section below to how to edit this).

Toggle the top to Terrain to have the top of the envelope follow the terrain below at the height set on the setback.

Adjusting the height reference point

If a height is given to a setback and the envelope top is set to Flat, you will see a height reference point when the site is selected.

The height reference point determines the base point for height assigned to setbacks. To move it, click and drag the control point.

Setback styling

The Color and Opacity inputs in the Envelope section of the Site Boundary sidebar let you adjust the visibility and color of the envelope that is created when height is assigned to a setback.
