Arcol Procore AI App

Written by Kyle Bernhardt

The Arcol app for Procore lets you use up-to-date construction quantities and metrics from your Arcol project directly in Procore AI.

What the Arcol Agent does

The Arcol Agent is for preconstruction teams at general contractors: precon managers, estimators and project managers.

It reads the live design in Arcol and compares it with your project's data in Procore. You don't have to export drawings, take off quantities by hand or rebuild spreadsheets.

What the agent uses from Arcol

The agent reads your Arcol project as it exists when the prompt is created:

  • Building area and program: gross floor area, gross building area, net sellable area and efficiency, by building, typology (residential, hotel, office, parking and so on) and area type.

  • Zoning and site: floor area ratio (FAR) against the site's allowable FAR, maximum buildable area, site coverage, and parking stalls drawn against parking required.

  • Unit mix: apartment, hotel key and other unit counts.

  • Construction quantities: estimate quantity drivers organized by UNIFORMAT Level 3. Examples include foundations, slab on grade, floor and roof construction, exterior walls, exterior windows, roofing, partitions, finishes and sitework. Each quantity is broken down by the structural system, facade type, roof type or area type assigned in Arcol.

  • Design options: the same figures for any design option or building, so you can compare schemes.

What the agent uses from Procore

The agent reads:

  • Budget: budget line items, including cost codes, quantities, units and amounts.

  • Bids: bid packages and bids.

  • Project information: the project name and the project's details.

Examples

  1. Check the budget against the current design
"Is our budget carrying the same building area as the current design? Break it out by building."
The agent compares Arcol's floor area for each building and typology with the areas behind your Procore budget. It shows where the budget carries more or less area than is drawn, and what that difference is worth at your budget's rates.

  2. Check a trade's scope against the model
"Does the curtain wall budget cover the glazing in the office tower? How do the bids compare?"
The agent gets the office tower's exterior window area from Arcol and checks it against your budget line and each bid. It flags any bid that looks short on scope.

  3. Compare design options before a decision
"What changes between the base design and Option B in floor area, facade and unit count? Which budget lines would that affect?"
The agent compares the two options in Arcol and points to the Procore budget lines driven by the quantities that changed.

Setting up and signing in

  1. A Procore admin installs the Arcol app.

  2. The Arcol Agent then becomes available in Procore AI.

  3. The agent matches your Procore project to the Arcol project with the same name, so name them the same.

  4. The first time Procore AI sends one of your questions to the Arcol Agent, you'll be asked to sign in to Arcol. Sign-in uses Arcol's standard OAuth flow, and you'll never be asked to type a password or key into the chat. After that you stay signed in until you revoke access.

The agent acts as you. It can only see Arcol projects you can open in Arcol. Projects you can't access, or that are in the trash, are reported as not found.

What information Arcol receives

Each time the agent calls Arcol, Arcol's server receives:

  • The request itself: which Arcol tool was called and its inputs. These are Arcol project, design option and building identifiers.

  • Your Arcol sign-in token, which Arcol uses to identify you and check your access.

  • Context added by Procore AI: a short description of why the tool was called, the name of the AI model making the call, and a conversation identifier.

Procore doesn't send your Procore data, your Procore company or project, or your Procore user details to Arcol. Arcol identifies you only through your Arcol sign-in.

How Arcol uses it:

  • Access checks: Arcol checks every request against your Arcol permissions before reading any data.

  • Product analytics: Arcol records usage metrics to monitor reliability and improve the agent. The results themselves, meaning your project data, are not recorded.

  • Error monitoring: errors are logged so we can fix them.

What the agent can change

Nothing. The Arcol Agent is read-only. It doesn't create, edit or delete Procore records, and it doesn't change your Arcol design. No approval step is needed because no changes are proposed.

Cost

Every question the agent answers uses Procore AI credits from your company's pool. Your Procore admin can see that usage under the Arcol Agent's name.
