What does EPONA stand for?

EPONA is the name of a goddess from Celtic mythology, specifically associated with horses and equine-related activities.


Will EPONA have a mobile app?

The current platform is mobile-responsive and optimised for service providers. A dedicated EPONA mobile app will be launched winter of 2025 to support all your needs including stud farm and breeding functionalities.


Can I enter multiple procedures for one horse at the same time?

Yes, EPONA supports bulk entry of multiple procedures across one or more horses, making data entry efficient and streamlined.


Can I have multiple workspaces/ledgers?

Yes and you can switch between without signing out from EPONA.


Can I assign tasks to someone outside my EPONA?

Yes, we are working on guest access, and we expect delivery in Winter.


If I transition to EPONA but my service providers remain on Ardex Premier, will this impact my workflow?

While having all users on EPONA provides the best experience, we are working on integration solutions to ensure seamless data flow between Premier and EPONA where feasible.


Can I manage multiple businesses (e.g., training and service provider) within EPONA?

Yes, EPONA will allow for different workspaces to manage and operate different businesses while sharing data between them.


Can procedures be approved without immediate invoicing?

Yes, you can approve procedures daily and choose whether to invoice immediately or at the end of the month, based on your preferences.


Will EPONA integrate with studbooks, including standardbred?

Yes, EPONA is designed to integrate with multiple studbooks. We are actively working with providers to enable seamless API-based integration where possible. We currently integrate with the Australian and New Zealand Studbooks, Arion Pedigrees and are actively exploring integrations to other studbooks, including within Europe and standardbred throughout Australasia.


Can I use another accounting systems other than Xero?

Our initial release supports Xero as the most popular accounting integration in Australia and New Zealand. We have the capability to integration with additional accounting systems (e.g. MYOB, Sage) and the support of these will be driven by demand.


What about outbound communications, are you upgrading it?

Yes, we are developing a significant overhaul of existing capabilities using leading edge technology. Upgrades which will be deployed within EPONA winter of 2025 include:

  • User created templates

  • Custom branding

  • Text editor tools which allow customisation of fonts and colour, etc.

  • Customisable auto communications related to racing, breeding and movements.

  • And the release of a dedicated owner’s portal which will enable users to receive consolidated communications and statements.


What is the cost of EPONA?

EPONA for Service Providers will be offered a range of flat monthly subscriptions inclusive of all core components to help them run their business. Please contact Ardex to discuss your needs.


If we have previously paid for custom functionality in Ardex Premier or Essentials, will we need to pay again for similar features in EPONA?

No, EPONA’s development and roadmap will incorporate capabilities built in Premier over the years and make that functionality available to all where needed—for example, embryo transfer functionality for non-thoroughbreds.


What if I don’t want to move from Premier / Essentials?

No client needs to move off either Premier or Essentials if they decide not to. But Ardex will focus its ongoing development effort towards EPONA whilst continuing to maintain both Premier and Essentials. This means new features and 3rd party integrations will mainly be developed exclusively for EPONA moving forward.



How would we move our data to EPONA?

We understand that switching systems can feel daunting, but we’ve made the transition as seamless as possible.

Data Migration Support – We handle importing key data from our system and any other.

Hands-On Training – Our team offers step-by-step onboarding to ensure an easy switch.

Parallel Running – If needed, you can run EPONA alongside your current system before fully switching over.

Most users are fully operational within a short time frame, with minimal disruption to their daily workflow.


It appears you will release during the breeding season, why is that the case?

We recognise that the timing will not be ideal but by releasing in spring of 2025 it will allow us to release an end to end platform prior to the next breeding season which will be thoroughly tested and issue free.


What other enhancements are you developing?

Ardex will focus on horse management, where we have 25 years' experience and partner with other specialists for value added services, including but not limited to:

  • Accounting - Xero

  • Credit card and FX payment integration

  • Business intelligence applications

  • Sales catalogue application

  • Deeper integration with auctioneers
