Your Ardex Database should already have certain standard horse categories set, and we recommend that in most cases you don’t make any changes. To view Horse Categories, simply go to Settings > Options and Settings > Horse Categories.

The horse categories listed by default relate to horse breeding functions in Ardex, and changing these categories can create difficulties when recording breeding procedures and events so it is not advised to to do so.

In some cases, businesses do add additional horse categories for various reasons. There is no harm in this, so long as the user understands that for the system to treat a Mare as a ‘In Foal’ for breeding, it needs to be set to category ‘Home In Foal’ or ‘Visiting In Foal’, not some other new category like ‘Mare (In Foal) Auction Prep’.
