The Information Requests module is your central hub for managing client submissions of documents, data, and inputs required for tax work.

At its core is a request list—a clear, actionable list of items we’ve requested from clients. Each request row includes important contextual information and can be expanded to utilize the built-in workflow tools for tracking uploads, reviewing files, and addressing client questions or comments.

Information Request Lists

TaxAdvantage supports multiple Request Lists (or "Engagements") within a single client or parent company. This can be helpful segregating and managing distinct request lists within a calendar year. For example:

  • Creating separate request lists for each entity within a parent company or private equity fund

  • Creating an ad hoc request list related to an mid-year client acquisition or onboarding a first year client that you do not want to be rolled forward

  • Breaking out separate request lists for each quarterly tax provision

Easily jump between request lists by clicking each request list name in the side panel. Hover over the progress visual below the request list name to see a breakdown of request count by status.

Visit this article for more information on how to create, edit and delete request lists.

Information Request Features

Requests are grouped by Category, and each request row displays key details such as the request name, a description preview, due date, and status.

Click on any request to expand it and access more information and utilities, such as downloading and reviewing files, updating status, and communicating with clients.

Download Files: All files uploaded by clients are displayed in the Client Uploads section. Click on the file name hyperlink to download each file to your machine.

Return & Approve Files: once you've reviewed a document, each file can either be approved or returned. This will move the file out of the File(s) Pending Review list to either File(s) Approved or File(s) Returned.

Note that when a file is returned to a client, the request status is automatically updated to Returned. It is important to leave a comment for the client with the reason why a file is returned.

Mark Requests as Complete: If all files are approved and/or a request has been successfully fulfilled by the client, click the orange 'Mark Request Complete' button to move the request status to complete.

Commenting: Use the built-in chat functionality to collaborate with clients on specific requests. Add comments to clarify requirements, provide feedback, or explain why a file was returned. Clients can also respond directly, ensuring a smooth resolution to questions.

Attach Files & Templates: to assist clients in fulfilling requests, you can upload a template or reference file(s) to a request. Under Armanino Uploads on the right hand side, click Armanino Files & Templates to drag-and-drop or upload files.

Request Status & Workflow

Requests progress through statuses defined below.

Status

Description

Outstanding

A new request that is pending files to be uploaded by the client.

Fulfilled

The client has uploaded the necessary files and indicated that the files are ready for Armanino review.

Returned

Requests are automatically set to a Returned status when files have been returned to a client

Complete

Files have been reviewed, approved, and downloaded. The request is finished!

Not Applicable

Requests that clients have indicated are not applicable and can effectively be closed; there are no files to be uploaded

Here is the typical back-and-forth workflow with clients to complete requests:

  1. A request list is published for clients, with each request starting in an Outstanding status

  2. Clients upload files and mark the request as Fulfilled for review.

  3. Armanino team downloads and reviews the files, and Approves or Returns the document

  4. Armanino team marks the request as Complete OR returns files and the status is set to Returned for clients to make corrections.
