What is Dash Builder?
Dash Builder lets you create a Canvas — a custom dashboard page where you can display reports, charts, user activity, media, tasks, and more, all in one view.
If you’re not familiar with Canvas, check out our Canvas Overview for more background.
How to Access the Dash Builder
Go to the Canvas section of your account.
Click the ‘+’ (plus) icon in the top-right corner to create a new dashboard.
A pop-up window will appear — enter a name for your Canvas.
Click ‘Create’, and you’ll be taken directly into the Dash Builder.
The Toolbox
To start building your dashboard:
Click the ‘Edit’ button in the top-left corner.
The top menu will change to show ‘Save’ and ‘New Tile’ options.
Click ‘New Tile’ — a toolbox will appear on the left side of the screen.
You can now drag and drop tiles directly onto your Canvas.
Tile Types Available
Tiles are grouped by type. Here’s what you can add to your dashboard:
📊 Charts
📈 Activity
💡 Icons
🔗 Widgets
Once you place a tile, a settings menu appears to customize it — including naming the tile, selecting data sources (forms, folders, users), choosing colors, and more.
Click ‘Done’ at the top of the toolbox to apply your changes.
Saving & Previewing
When you're finished:
Click ‘Save’ in the top-left corner to lock in tile placements.
Click ‘Save’ again in the top-right to confirm your Canvas.
To preview your dashboard on different devices, use the device icons in the top-left corner to toggle between:
Desktop
Tablet
Mobile
Example: Adding a Chart
Let’s add a Pie Chart to your Canvas:
Drag the Pie Chart tile to your Canvas
Name your chart (and choose to show/hide the name)
Select the form and field you want to report on
Toggle between Pie and Bar chart views
Customize colors, labels, and legends
Editing & Deleting Tiles
To change or remove a tile:
When deleting a tile, you’ll be asked to confirm. Click ‘Yes’ to remove it.
Dash Builder is a powerful tool for turning data into clear, actionable dashboards — tailor it to your team, your goals, and your workflow.
