Dropbox is an excellent tool for centralizing your team or company’s documents, media, and spreadsheets. However, managing that data can become overwhelming — especially when files aren’t well-organized.
With Array’s Dropbox integration via Zapier, you can automate how your files and data are structured. Whether you're backing up PDFs, organizing uploaded media, or updating spreadsheets, Array helps you turn Dropbox into a tidy, automated archive for all your form submissions.

How to populate Array forms with Dropbox spreadsheet data
Step 1: Set Up Zapier
Visit the Array Zapier Integration Page
Sign in or create your Zapier account at zapier.com
Click “Make a Zap” from the dashboard
Step 2: Set Up a Trigger (Array)
Choose “Array” as your Trigger App
Select “New Form Entry” as the Trigger Event
Sign in to your Array account when prompted
Choose the form that should trigger the Zap
Make sure the form has at least one submission so Zapier can test the trigger
Test the trigger and move to the next step
Step 3: Set Up an Action (Dropbox)
Choose Dropbox as your Action App
Pick an action depending on your goal:
Upload File (to send a media file or PDF to Dropbox)
Create Text File or Create Spreadsheet Row (for data output)
Sign in to your Dropbox account
Set up your file destination and formatting:
Select the Dropbox folder
Choose a file name (use dynamic fields like form titles or dates)
Select the file content (mapped from Array fields)
Run a test to confirm everything works
Click Finish, name your Zap, and switch it ON
Now, each new form submission from Array will automatically send files or data to Dropbox.
What Is Dropbox?
Dropbox is a cloud-based storage platform that allows users to store, sync, and share documents and media across devices and team members. It’s widely used for file backups, collaboration, and secure storage.
Connecting Dropbox Directly in Array
To use Array’s native Dropbox integration (without Zapier):
Go to the “Installed Apps” section from the top navigation bar
Search for Dropbox in the Array Market
Click Install
Log in to your Dropbox account
Your account will now appear as connected
To disconnect Dropbox, click the X next to the connected account.
Automatically Save Uploaded Files to Dropbox
Many Array forms collect media such as images, PDFs, or videos. With Dropbox integration, these files can be stored automatically:
Open your form in the Form Builder
Click Connect at the top navigation of the builder
Open the Storage tab and select Dropbox
Toggle ON the file types you want to send to Dropbox:
Images
Videos
Audio
PDFs
Be sure your form contains the appropriate upload fields like “Take Picture” or “Upload File”
A new folder named after your form will be created in Dropbox. Each file submission will be stored in this folder.
Create Spreadsheets in Dropbox
Want a spreadsheet that updates with each new submission?
In the same Storage settings for Dropbox
Select one of the following formats:
CSV
XLS
XLSX
Array will create the spreadsheet in Dropbox and automatically append new submission rows in real time.
Save PDF Copies of Form Responses
Need backups or easy-to-share versions of full submissions?
In the Dropbox Storage tab
Enable the PDF format option
A PDF file for each form submission will be stored in your Dropbox folder.
Populate Forms with Dropbox Data (Search)
You can also use Dropbox spreadsheets to pre-fill Array forms:
In the Form Builder, drag the “Data Search” field from the Text Input tab
Open the Data Search Link
Select Dropbox from the Integrations tab
Choose a spreadsheet stored in Dropbox
Map spreadsheet columns to form fields
Now, users can search from that spreadsheet directly in the form (e.g., pull up client info by name or ID)
Best Practices
Use dynamic file naming in Zapier to avoid overwriting files (e.g., use response ID or date)
Enable PDF backups to capture full context
Store different data types in separate folders for better organization
Use Dropbox team folders for shared access across departments
