Device Limiting in Array: Enhanced Data Security

As part of our ongoing commitment to protect your data, Array now includes device limiting on a per-user basis. This feature ensures that your data stays secure, your users remain accountable, and your platform access is controlled.

Updated over 3 months ago

Why Device Limiting?

With organizations handling increasingly sensitive data, security and user access control are more critical than ever.

In addition to our existing security features:

  • Multi-factor authentication

  • Google reCAPTCHA

  • ISO 27001 Certification

  • UK G-Cloud Authorization

…we’ve now added Device Limiting to further safeguard your account.

What Is Device Limiting?

Each user in Array is now restricted to logging in from no more than two devices at any one time. This means:

  • No shared logins across unlimited devices

  • Fewer points of vulnerability

  • Better control over individual access and user actions

Unlike platforms that allow only one device, Array allows two—striking the right balance between security and flexibility.

Example: A user can collect data on a mobile tablet in the field, and simultaneously manage or edit submissions on a laptop in the office.

This setup ensures your data remains secure and verifiable, even in multi-device workflows.

Managing Permissions Alongside Device Limits

To make the most of Device Limiting, it’s important to ensure users have the appropriate permission levels.

Array offers four primary user roles:

Permission Level

Access Overview

Account Admin

Full access to all settings, data, forms, and users

Field Manager

Manages teams, forms, and submissions within assigned folders

Operator

Completes forms and views assigned reports

Data Entry User

Submits forms only, with limited viewing rights
