Pasting text into the editor can be a tricky thing. If you try and copy something from Word or even another website it may get pasted with some unseen formatting that can cause problems with changing colors and styles within our Standard Editor.
Below we’re going to cover some common ways of copying properly and posting properly into our Editor.
Pasting Text
Here we’re going to cover basic copying and pasting into the Standard Editor.
Find the Text you want to Paste into the Editor and Copy it. For our purposes, we’re using text from a Notepad.
Once you have your text Copied, navigate to the Editor and Paste it in. You can Paste the text by pressing CTRL+V or clicking on the Paste button in the Editor.
Pasting From Word
When you copy text from word and paste it into the Standard Editor there can be problems. If the text is formatted in a specific way or has a specific colour, that may transfer over and cause issues where you cannot edit a specific piece of text. We’ll show you how to copy from Word, however we strongly advise AGAINST doing this as it may cause the previously mentioned editing issues.
Find the Text you want to Paste into the Editor and Copy it. For our purposes, we’re using text from a Word.
Once you have your text Copied, navigate to the Editor and Paste it in. You can Paste the text by pressing CTRL+V or clicking on the Paste from Word button in the Editor.
It’s important to notice that in this case the colour of my font did not transfer over. Keep in mind that just because you have something formatted perfectly in word does not mean it will be perfect in the Editor. The Editor is not nearly as robust as Word and may not perform all of the functions that you want it to, especially when Copying and Pasting information into it.
Paste As Plain Text
Text that has been copied from other sources may bring unwanted formatting code with it when it is pasted, or you may want to strip existing formatting from it.
If you find that you are seeing text on your website that is not the appropriate colour or is formatted incorrectly you may want to go back and try to paste your text as plain text.
Find the Text you want to Paste into the Editor and Copy it. For our purposes, we’re using text from a Word.
Once you have your text Copied, navigate to the Editor and Paste it in. You can Paste the text by pressing CTRL+V or clicking on the Paste as Plain Text button in the Editor.
