To create more engagement on customer blogs with interested parties, it’s important that people can comment on posts. By allowing comments on blog posts you up your engagement and have more interactions with you and your customers. It’s a great way to put yourself out there and start discussions about the content of the blog or even answer the questions that people have about information in your blog.
If you want to learn how to allow comments on your ASF Blog, please follow the directions below.
Log in to your Art Storefronts Control Panel and click on the Blog page you want to work on. In our example, we’re going to be using the page titled Blog.
After you click on the Blog page you want to edit, look at the light grey tabs across the page. Make sure you find the one labeled Info and then make sure you are on that tab. If you aren’t on the Info tab, you aren’t going to be able to decide whether you want to allow comments on your blog page.
When you’re sure you’re on the correct tab, scroll down the page until you see a section labeled Type of Comments to Display. This is a drop-down menu and currently offers 2 options. You can choose None, which will not allow you to display comments on your Blog. You can choose Facebook which will allow people to post comments on your Blog.
Please Note: If set to Facebook, visitors to your blog will be able to use their Facebook account to leave comments on each blog post. Comments left on a blog post can also be shared directly to Facebook.
The reason we chose this option is because we want to require some sort of registration for Blog post comments. This is meant to protect you from random SPAM links from unregistered commenters. After you’ve chosen what Type of Comments to Display on your Blog, make sure you click on the Save DO NOT CLICK ON THE BACK BUTTON. If you click on the back button, all the work you just completed will be lost and you will be required to start the process over again.
WARNING: IF YOU FAIL TO ENTER INFORMATION IN THE LEAD CONTENT OR CONTENT 1 FIELD, WHEN PEOPLE GO TO POST A COMMENT IT WILL GIVE THEM AN ERROR. DON'T IGNORE THIS WARNING!
What does it look like on the Live Site?
If you navigate to your Blog on the live site, you can scroll down to the bottom of the Blog post and you’ll find a section to enter comments. People MUST remember to log in with Facebook.
Warning: If people are not logged in with Facebook they WILL NOT be able to post a comment. The reasoning behind this is because it allows us to mitigate SPAM posts on your blog. It also gives you further credibility.
You’ll also see, within the comment box that there is a section labeled Also Post on Facebook. This will allow the commenter to share their comment, and your Blog post, to their Facebook page.
