Which Campaigns Use UTM Tracking?

All campaigns sent through Artbrain can include UTM parameters. This applies to all email campaigns:

How Are UTM Parameters Added?

UTM parameters are automatically appended to the URLs in your campaigns by the Artbrain system at the time the campaign is sent. You do not need to manually configure or insert them.

Which UTM Parameters Are Included?

Artbrain uses the following UTM parameters for all tracked links:

UTM Parameter

Value Example

Description

utm_source

artbrain

Identifies the source of the traffic

utm_medium

email

Indicates the marketing medium

utm_campaign

SummerSale_0325_ModernArt_2025-06-15

Specifies the campaign details

UTM Campaign Format:

When the campaign is assigned to an auction (such as in recommendations campaigns), the utm_campaign will include:

CampaignName_CampaignNumber_AuctionName_AuctionDate

Example:

SummerSale_0325_ModernArt_2025-06-15

When the campaign is not tied to an auction, the utm_campaign will only include:

CampaignName_CampaignNumber

Example:

Newsletter_0452

💡 Note: Any spaces, slashes, or special characters in campaign or auction names will be removed automatically to ensure compatibility with URL standards.

How to Use UTM Parameters in Google Analytics

UTM parameters are widely supported by analytics platforms such as Google Analytics (GA4) or Universal Analytics.

Here's how you can use them to monitor your Artbrain campaign performance:

Step-by-Step in Google Analytics:

  1. Go to your Google Analytics dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Reports > Acquisition > Traffic Acquisition.

  3. Use the search or filter tools to look for:

    • utm_source = artbrain

    • utm_medium = email

    • Campaign names in the utm_campaign field

  4. Analyze clicks, conversions, and user behavior by campaign, medium, or source.

This helps you answer questions like:

  • Which campaigns drove the most traffic?

  • What kind of auctions led to high engagement?

Edge Cases & Special Notes

❓What if I import a URL that already includes UTM parameters?

If your imported link already contains UTM parameters, Artbrain will override them with its own values at the time of sending. This ensures consistency across all tracked campaigns.

❓What happens to special characters in names?

If your campaign or auction names include spaces, slashes (/), or special characters, Artbrain will remove or sanitize those characters

💡Final Reminder
