How to Create a New Contact in SmartMail (iOS)

Create new contacts quickly while composing SmartMails on iOS. Add details instantly and continue emailing without leaving the composer.

Adding a new contact while composing a SmartMail is quick and seamless. This guide walks you through creating a contact directly from the email composer so you never have to leave your workflow.

Create a New Contact While Composing a SmartMail

1. Open SmartMail

  1. From the Contacts tab, tap SmartMail icon.

2. Add a Recipient

  1. Tap into the To: field.

  2. Begin typing the name or email address of the person you’d like to email.


3. Select “Create New Contact”

If the person doesn’t already exist in your ARTERNAL contacts:

  1. Tap Create Contact when it appears beneath the search results.
    ​


4. Enter Contact Details

You can now fill in the essential contact information:

  • First & Last Name

  • Email Address

  • Phone Number (optional)

  • Address(optional)

Tap Create when finished.


5. Your New Contact is Added Automatically

Once saved:

  • The contact is immediately created in your ARTERNAL Contacts.

  • They’re automatically added as the recipient in your SmartMail.

  • You can continue drafting and sending your email without leaving the composer flow.


Tips

  • If you accidentally create a contact with the wrong information, you can edit their profile anytime from the Contacts tab.

  • SmartMail auto-checks for duplicates using the email address to prevent creating multiple versions of the same person.

Q: Can I add more details later?

A: Yes. After creating the contact, go to their profile in Contacts to add notes, phone numbers, tags, and more.

Q: What if I see multiple similar contacts?

A: SmartMail prevents duplicates, but if you find similar contacts, you can merge them from the Contacts tab via the desktop version of the app.
