When sending out Smart Mail to a large group of contacts, it's important to keep in mind that email providers like Gmail and Outlook impose an hourly sending limit, which typically hovers around 80 emails per hour. ARTERNAL helps manage this by sending batches of emails and prompting you to complete the rest after the limit resets.

What Happens When You Reach the Hourly Limit?

When you attempt to send Smart Mail to more than 80 contacts, you will see a pop-up message informing you of the limit.

  • You can select "Send All" to send the first batch of emails, which will include about 80 recipients.

  • After the first batch is sent, wait 1 hour before sending the next batch to avoid hitting the limit again.

How to Send the Remaining Emails:

  1. Wait for One Hour: After sending the first batch, wait approximately one hour for your email provider’s sending limit to reset.

  2. Return to Smart Mail: Go back to the Smart Mail tab. You will see your previously sent batch in the pipeline view.

  3. Edit Smart Mail: Click the Edit Smart Mail button to open the message for the remaining recipients.

  4. Send Remaining Emails: Click on Send All again. ARTERNAL will automatically send emails to the remaining unsent contacts, without causing duplicate sends to those who already received the email.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: What is the hourly sending limit for Gmail and Outlook?
A: The hourly sending limit for most email providers, like Gmail and Outlook, is around 80 emails per hour. This means you can send up to 80 emails at a time before needing to wait.

Q: How do I avoid sending duplicate emails when splitting batches?
A: ARTERNAL automatically tracks which contacts have already received the email, so when you click Send All again, it will only send to the remaining unsent contacts.

Q: What happens if I don’t return after one hour?
A: Your Smart Mail will stay in the pipeline view, so you can return to it anytime after the one-hour wait and send the remaining emails.

Q: Can I adjust the number of emails sent per batch?
A: The batch size is controlled by your email provider's hourly limit, so it cannot be manually adjusted within ARTERNAL.
