Adjusting your email and in-app notifications

ArtHelper sends different kinds of notifications — daily activity, trending alerts, comment replies, connection requests, and more. Here's how to turn each one on or off.

ArtHelper sends notifications when other artists interact with you or your work — likes, comments, follows, connection requests, trending alerts, and a daily summary email. You can leave them all on, or you can keep just the ones you care about. This article walks through each switch in your notification settings and what it controls.## Managing high-volume community notificationsIf you're receiving 40–50 emails in a couple of days, you've likely joined multiple active communities with the default "notify on every post" setting turned on. This is fixable without unsubscribing from everything — you can reduce the volume while staying in the communities you care about.**Important:** Don't use the "unsubscribe" link in email footers to stop community emails. That link turns off ALL emails from ArtHelper, including important account emails like password resets and billing receipts. Instead, use the in-app settings below to selectively reduce volume.### How to reduce community email volume1. **Mute specific communities (without leaving them)** - Go to the community page for any community you've joined - Click the **Settings** or **...** menu in the top right - Select **Mute notifications** — you'll stay a member but won't receive emails about new posts in that community - You can unmute anytime from the same menu2. **Switch from "every post" to "digest" or "off"** - Go to [arthelper.com/settings](https://app.arthelper.ai/settings) - Click the **Notifications** tab - Scroll to the **Community activity** section - Turn off **New Follow Post Alerts** (stops individual emails when artists you follow post) - Turn on **While You Were Away Digest** instead — this sends one weekly summary of top posts from your communities instead of individual emails3. **Turn off the master "Community activity" toggle** - Still in [arthelper.com/settings](https://app.arthelper.ai/settings) → **Notifications** tab - At the top of the **Community activity** section, you'll see a master toggle - Turning this off stops ALL community-related emails (votes, trending alerts, follow posts, digests, replies/reactions on community posts) - You'll still see everything in your notification bell when you log in### Understanding "following" vs. "community" notifications- **Following notifications** (controlled by "New Follow Post Alerts") — emails you every time an artist you specifically clicked "Follow" on publishes a new post - **Community notifications** (controlled by individual community mute settings) — emails you about activity in communities you've joined, like new posts from any member - **Vote/Trending/Reply notifications** — emails you about interactions with YOUR posts in communitiesIf you're getting flooded, the culprit is usually "New Follow Post Alerts" being on while you've followed many active artists, or joining communities without muting them first. Turn off "New Follow Post Alerts" and mute high-volume communities to bring your inbox back under control.## How to find your notification settings1. Go to [arthelper.com/settings](https://app.arthelper.ai/settings). 2. Click the **Notifications** tab. 3. You'll see three groups of switches — one for the daily activity email, one for community activity, and one for your network and messages. 4. Flip any switch on or off. Changes save automatically — you don't have to click a save button.## Daily activity emailThis is the once-a-day round-up email that summarizes what happened on your account the day before.- **Daily Activity Email** — turns on or off the once-daily email summary. When it's off, you'll still see everything in the bell when you visit ArtHelper; you just won't be emailed about it.## Community activity emailsThese control emails about things happening on your community posts, the wider feed, and communities you've joined.- **Vote Notifications** — emails you when other artists vote on your community posts. - **Trending Alerts** — emails you when one of your posts starts trending in the community feed. - **New Follow Post Alerts** — emails you when an artist you follow publishes something new. - **While You Were Away Digest** — a weekly digest of the top posts from the communities you've joined. - **Reply & Reaction Notifications** — emails you when someone replies to or reacts to your community posts and comments.## Network and messages emailsThese control emails about your network — incoming connection requests, accepted requests, and direct messages from people you've connected with.- **Connection requests & accepts** — emails you when another artist sends you a connection request, or when one of your requests is accepted. - **Direct messages** — emails you when a connection sends you a direct message you haven't read yet.**Note:** Email toggles only control **email**. The notification bell inside ArtHelper still shows every notification, even ones you've turned off for email. That way you can still find them when you log in, without filling up your inbox.## Unsubscribing from specific email types without logging inYou can now unsubscribe from specific types of ArtHelper emails directly from the email footer link, without needing to log in to your account.**How it works:**1. Every ArtHelper email includes an unsubscribe link in the footer. 2. Clicking that link takes you to a simple page where you can choose which email types to turn off — connection requests, direct messages, or other notification categories. 3. You don't need to be logged in. The page recognizes your email address from the link and lets you manage preferences right there. 4. If you're logged in when you visit the unsubscribe page, your choice syncs immediately to your account. If you're logged out, ArtHelper saves the preference to your email address and applies it the next time you sign in. 5. This is in addition to the logged-in settings page at [arthelper.com/settings](https://app.arthelper.ai/settings) → **Notifications** tab. Both paths control the same preferences — use whichever is more convenient.**What you can turn off from the unsubscribe page:**- **Connection requests & accepts** — stops emails about incoming connection requests and accepted requests - **Direct messages** — stops emails about new direct messages from your connections - Other notification categories as listed on the page**Important:** This is different from the old "unsubscribe from all" link. The new page lets you be selective — you can turn off just connection emails or just message emails, without losing password resets, billing receipts, or other important account emails. If you want to adjust more granular settings (like vote notifications, trending alerts, or daily digest preferences), you'll still need to visit the logged-in notification settings page. The one-click unsubscribe page covers the most common email types artists want to turn off quickly.## Daily SMS tips (Sparklinks by text)In addition to email, you can receive your daily Sparklink — the daily nudge with one of your paintings and a useful task — as a text message (SMS). This is a separate channel from email: you can choose to receive Sparklinks by email only, SMS only, both, or neither.**What are daily SMS tips?** Daily SMS tips are a text-message version of the daily Sparklink email. You'll get the same personalized nudge and task sent to your phone as a text, making it easy to stay motivated even when you're away from your inbox.**Who can use SMS tips?** SMS tips are currently available to users in the United States only. You'll need a US phone number to opt in.**How to turn on SMS tips** You can opt in to daily SMS tips in two places:1. **During onboarding** — when you first sign up for ArtHelper, you'll be asked if you'd like to receive daily SMS tips. Enter your phone number and check the TCPA consent checkbox to opt in. 2. **From notification settings** — go to [arthelper.com/settings](https://app.arthelper.ai/settings), click the **Notifications** tab, and look for the **Daily SMS Tips** section. Enter your phone number and check the TCPA consent checkbox to start receiving texts.**Important:** By opting in, you consent to receive automated daily text messages from ArtHelper at the phone number you provide. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can opt out anytime by replying *STOP* to any message.**How to turn off SMS tips** To stop receiving daily SMS tips, reply *STOP* to any text message from ArtHelper. You can also turn them off from [arthelper.com/settings](https://app.arthelper.ai/settings) → **Notifications** tab → **Daily SMS Tips** section. To turn them back on after stopping, reply *START* to any previous message from ArtHelper, or re-enable them in your notification settings.**SMS vs. email for Sparklinks** The SMS and email channels are independent. Turning off SMS tips won't affect your Sparklink emails, and turning off Sparklink emails won't affect your SMS tips. You can use one, both, or neither — whatever works best for you.## A starter setupIf you're not sure where to begin, this combination works well for most artists:- Leave **Daily Activity Email** on — it's the easiest way to see everything in one daily digest. - Leave **Connection requests & accepts** and **Direct messages** on so you don't miss real conversations. - Turn off **Vote Notifications** if you find them too frequent. - Turn off **New Follow Post Alerts** and turn on **While You Were Away Digest** instead if you're following many active artists. - Adjust the rest as you get a sense of what you actually act on.## Common questions### Where do Sparklink emails fit in?Sparklinks — the daily nudge with one of your paintings and a useful task — are part of the daily activity email and the marketing emails ArtHelper sends. To stop them, see the [Sparklinks](/assistant/what-are-sparklinks/) article. The notification-settings page above is about everyday in-product activity, not the marketing rail.### What about text messages?Daily Sparklink texts are the only text messages ArtHelper sends. To unsubscribe, reply *STOP* to any of them. To turn them back on, reply *START*.### I turned everything off but I still got an email — why?A few emails are sent regardless of these toggles: account safety notices, password resets, billing receipts, and important changes to your account. Everything else respects the switches on this page.### Will I miss anything important if I turn off email notifications? No — the bell inside ArtHelper still shows every notification. The email toggles only control whether we also send you an email about it. You can always log in and see what happened.
