Before Social AutoPoster can post anything, you have to connect at least one social account. You do that once, on the Channels page. This guide covers what each site requires, how to connect it, and what to do when a connection does not take.
What each site needs from you
Every site has its own rule about the kind of account it will accept. These are their rules, not ours.
Instagram — a Business or Creator account. A personal account cannot be posted to, and this is the single most common reason a connection fails. You can switch yours in the Instagram app for free, in about a minute.
Facebook — a Page you manage, not your personal profile. If you do not have a Page for your art yet, you will need to make one on Facebook first.
LinkedIn — your own profile. Company pages are not supported yet.
Bluesky — your handle. You type it in, then approve the connection on Bluesky's own screen.
TikTok, Threads, X and Pinterest appear on the page but cannot be connected yet. We will say so plainly on the day each one opens.
Connect an account
Open Channels.
Find the site you want and press Connect.
A window from that site opens. Sign in there if you are not already signed in.
Approve the permissions it asks for. You are giving permission to post — nothing else.
You come back to Channels, and the account name appears on that site's card.
💡 Tip: Before you press Connect, sign in to the right account in another browser tab. If you are signed in to a personal Facebook profile and you meant to use your art Page, that is the one Facebook will offer you.
Instagram and Facebook connect together
Instagram posting runs through Facebook, so pressing Connect on either one opens a Facebook window. That is expected — it is not a mistake and you have not clicked the wrong thing.
Because of that, Instagram will only connect if your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account and it is linked to the Facebook Page you pick. If only Facebook ends up connected, that link is what is missing.
The one mistake to avoid
On Facebook's screen you will be asked which Pages to allow. Tick your art Page by name.
Do not use the option that covers all your Pages at once. It looks like it worked — Facebook returns you to us and reports success — but it hands over permission without naming a Page, so there is nothing for us to post to. If you see the message "Facebook didn't hand us a Page", this is what happened. Press Connect again and tick the Page itself.
Pick one Page, too. We post as a single Page for each artist, on purpose. If you tick several you will see "That was more than one Page" — press Connect again and choose only the Page you post your art from.
When a connection does not take
The message on screen tells you which of these happened.
"Facebook didn't hand us a Page." You used an all-Pages option instead of ticking a Page. Connect again and tick the Page by name.
"That was more than one Page." Connect again and tick just one.
"Instagram didn't come with it." Facebook connected but Instagram did not. Switch your Instagram to a Business or Creator account in the Instagram app, make sure it is linked to that Facebook Page, then connect again.
"Nothing changed." The window was closed before it finished. Nothing was connected and nothing was lost — press Connect when you are ready.
"That took a little too long." The window sat open longer than we hold the request. Press Connect again and it should go straight through.
"Facebook didn't finish the handover." Usually a momentary hiccup rather than a problem with your account. Press Connect to try again.
Disconnect, or reconnect later
On Channels, each connected account has a Disconnect button. Disconnecting stops future posts to that account; it does not delete anything already published.
Social sites also expire permission every so often, for everyone. If posts to one account start failing, press Disconnect and then Connect again — that fixes most of these.
Common questions
Why does pressing Connect on Instagram open Facebook?
Because Instagram only allows posting through Facebook. It is the correct screen, even though it does not look like Instagram.
Instagram says my account is not a Business account, but it is.
Two things cause this. Either the switch has not finished on Instagram's side — sign out of Instagram and back in, then try again — or your Instagram account is not linked to the Facebook Page you picked. The link is made in Instagram's own settings, not here.
Can I post to my personal Facebook profile?
No. Facebook only allows this kind of posting to a Page, so you need a Page for your art.
Can I connect more than one Instagram or Facebook account?
One of each per artist. If you have several Pages, connect the one you post your art from.
What exactly can you do with my account once it is connected?
Publish the posts you approve, and read back how they performed. We cannot read your private messages, and we do not post anything you have not either written or set up as an automation.
Do I have to connect all four?
No. One is enough to start. You can add the others whenever you like, and choose per post where it goes.
My account is connected but a post still did not go out.
