I'm having trouble topping up. What can I do?

Learn what to do when a Burner Pay top up won't go through, including declined cards and delayed deposits.

The fix usually depends on where it went wrong. Find your situation below.

Which method should I use?

  • A debit card is the most reliable option.

  • Apple Pay must be backed by a debit card. Credit cards aren't supported through Apple Pay.

  • To use a credit card, choose Debit or Credit Card, then select Credit Card in the top up window. Credit cards can work, but they don't always go through.

Why was my card declined?

Apple Pay and card top ups are processed by Coinbase, which uses your phone number and email address to verify you. Some combinations get declined by the bank.

  • If you're asked for an email address, try a different one.

  • Try a debit card rather than a credit card.

  • The charge appears as COINBASE on your statement. That's expected, and not a separate charge.

Why hasn't my crypto deposit arrived?

  • Deposits land once the network confirms the transaction, which can take longer when the network is busy.

  • Check you sent the token and network shown on the deposit screen. Crypto sent on a different network can't be recovered.

Why hasn't my bank transfer arrived?

Bank transfers usually settle in 1 to 3 business days. Your balance updates automatically once the transfer completes.

Still not working?

  • Wait a moment, then try the top up again.
