Overview
The Recommendations Module allows you to showcase suggested products when a customer's cart is empty. This is a valuable opportunity to re-engage shoppers and guide them toward key collections or bestsellers. You can access this feature by going to Cart Editor > Recommendations in your UpCart dashboard.
Settings
The module includes several optional elements you can enable to tailor the customer experience and drive more engagement.
Edit Header Text
This sets the main heading or intro message that appears above the recommendations area. You can use this to encourage customers to browse your store. For example, a message like “Your cart is empty, check out these top picks” can prompt them to continue shopping.
Enable ‘Shop Now’ Button
When toggled on, this adds a prominent call-to-action button beneath the header text. It offers customers a quick link to start browsing products. Use this if you want to actively guide users toward a specific section of your store.
Edit Button Text
This field controls the label shown on the ‘Shop Now’ button. You might use phrases like “Start Shopping” or “View All Products” depending on your store’s tone.
Edit Button URL
Here you define where the button leads. Most stores link this to a collection page, such as /collections
or /collections/bestsellers
. Use a full relative path so the button routes correctly.
Product Recommendations Header Text
This sets the title that appears just above the list of recommended products. Common choices include “You may also like” or “Recommended for you.”
Configure Manual Recommendations
Click to open the manual product selection window.
Choose the specific products you want to recommend.
Save your selections.
Unlike the Upsells module, these manual picks are always visible and don’t depend on trigger products. They will appear any time the cart is empty.
Maximum Number of Recommendations to Display
Use this to limit how many products appear. If you select five products but set the display limit to three, only the first three will be shown. This helps you keep the layout focused and clean.
Recommendation Direction
Choose how your recommended products are laid out:
Carousel layout displays products in a horizontal row with left and right arrows for scrolling.
Block layout stacks products vertically in a single column.
Select the layout that best fits your brand’s design and the space available in your cart drawer.
