What is a Barcode Content?

Barcode contents are the contents associated to the identifiers of the barcode standard. With every identifier, there can be different forms of content contained within it, which is then possibly followed by a closing (or separating) special character.

PROCESS FLOW

  1. Navigate to Asgard Labels > Profiles > Contents.

In the Generic Inquiry page of the Contents form that opens, click on + to add a New Record.

Expected Result: The data entry page of Contents must open.

In the data entry page, indicate the Content ID. It is the unique identifier that defines the Content in the system. An alphanumeric string with 50 maximum characters must be used.

2. In the Summary Area of the form, indicate the Description of the Content.

3. In the Summary Area of the form, select the Screen where to map the contents needed for the barcode.

Note: The Graph Type is auto populated based on the selected Screen ID.

4. In the Summary Area of the form, select the Standard and the Barcode to be applied for the barcode content being created. Every content must be linked to a standard in order to define/populate the identifiers. Barcode standards are an intermediary to allow you to set identifiers to your industry standards barcodes.

Refer below to the Standard screen.

5. In the Elements tab, fill in the necessary columns needed for the barcode content.

  • Identifier- The identifier that make up the barcode standard in the system.

  • Short Name- The name of the identifier.

  • Expression Type:

    • Fixed Type: The fixed type refers to any expression that is static. For instance, a string or sample value. These fields will always keep their same value.

    • Screen: The screen type refers to dynamic fields that pull their data from the respective screen that the model is mapped to. These fields will change depending on the data found in your system.

    • Function: The function type refers to the use of ZPL functions to implement the expression.

    • Same: The same type means that the expression has the same type as the previous row (previous expression).

  • Expression- The variable that is pulled from the view written as an expression. From the tree selector, you can select which variable you want to assign to the identifier.

  • Sample Value- The sample value used for the identifier.

  • Do Substitute- A check box that indicates (if selected) that a substitution is to be used.

  • Substitution- The substitution that is going to be applied to your expression. Substitutions refer to functions that are used as a means to manipulate the data whether that is to format, sort, calculate, etc. Substitutions are configured in the Substitutions form.

    • Commonly Used Substitutions

      • StringFunctions.Strip- This removes spaces on the value.

      • NO_DECIMAL- Amount will be rounded off to the nearest whole number and no decimal is added.

      • YYWW- YearYearWeekWeek date format

  • Enable When- Rule to be applied for the certain row/identifier.
