Short answer

These modes control where AskTuring looks for information when generating responses.

Full explanation

AskTuring offers three modes to give you control over how responses are created. This determines whether the AI uses only your uploaded documents, a combination of your documents and the AI’s general knowledge, or only the AI’s general knowledge.

Modes explained

Chat with Index Only
AskTuring will answer based only on the files in your selected Index. The platform will not use any general knowledge from the model’s training. Best for ensuring responses are strictly tied to your own content.

Chat with Index + AI
AskTuring will combine your documents with the model’s general knowledge. Useful when you want the platform to ground answers in your data but also include broader context or explanations.

Chat using AI only
AskTuring will ignore your uploaded files and respond using only the model’s general training. This is similar to using a standard AI chat tool with no custom documents.

Notes

  • AskTuring does not allow any LLM to retain or train on your knowledge.

  • You can switch modes at any time from the chat screen.

  • The “Index Only” mode ensures every answer is grounded in your own dataset.
