Short answer

A Project is a complete dataset that the AI searches. A Folder is a way to organize files inside a Project, but it can also be searched on its own.

Full explanation

In AskTuring, a Project is a secure, topic-specific collection of documents that the platform searches when answering your questions. The AI uses the entire Project to find, connect, and retrieve relevant information.

A Folder is a way to group and organize files inside a Project. While Folders help you keep your files organized, they can also be searched directly. You can choose to query:

  • The entire Project

  • A specific Folder

  • A selection of files

  • Even just one file

This flexibility means Projects define what the AI can access overall, while Folders give you control over narrowing the search to exactly what you want.

Tips

  • Use Projects for broad topics or departments, such as Finance, HR Policies, or Client Deliverables.

  • Create Folders within each Project to organize by subtopics, document types, or workflows.

  • Keep folder names clear and consistent to make searches more intuitive.

  • If you often search the same Folder, consider using Focus On mode to limit AI responses to that area only.

  • Review your Projects periodically to merge or reorganize folders as your content grows.

Examples

  • A marketing team creates a Project called Campaign Assets that contains several Folders, such as Social Media, Email Templates, and Brand Guidelines. When working on a specific campaign, they search only within the Social Media folder to find related content quickly.

  • A law firm sets up a Project named Corporate Contracts with Folders for Employment Agreements, Vendor Contracts, and Client Engagements. The team can search across the whole Project or just within one folder to locate precise legal documents.

  • An engineering department builds a Project titled System Documentation with Folders for API References, Network Architecture, and Deployment Guides. When troubleshooting, the team searches only the Deployment Guides folder for faster results.
