Short answer
From the Semantic Map tab, you can create categories, add terms (each with up to 10 alternative terms), and save your changes to improve search accuracy for that Index.

Full explanation

To create a Semantic Map:

  1. Open the correct Index
Make sure you are in the Index where you want to create or edit the Semantic Map.

  2. Go to the Semantic Map tab
This is in the left-hand menu of the main AskTuring screen.

  3. Create your categories

    • Use the “Manage Categories” option to add 4–10 categories that make sense for your content.

    • Always include one “catch-all” category called “General Terms” (or something similar) for items that don’t fit elsewhere.

  4. Add terms

    • Enter key terms that appear in your documents.

    • Assign each term to the most relevant category.

    • For each term, you can add up to 10 alternative terms (synonyms or related phrases) to help AskTuring recognize different ways of referring to the same concept.

  5. Save your Semantic Map
Once saved, AskTuring’s patented technology will use your Semantic Map to improve the way it searches and interprets your documents.

Tips

  • Categories should be broad enough to cover multiple related terms but not so broad that they become vague.

  • Update your Semantic Map when new documents or terms are added to the Index, including alternative terms for better coverage.

  • Download your Semantic Map for offline review or sharing if needed.
