Short answer

The AI Workspace is a simple, standalone chat area where you can talk directly with the AI, without connecting to any documents within Projects or Collections.

Full explanation

The AI Workspace is designed for quick, free-form conversations with AskTuring’s AI. It’s ideal for brainstorming ideas, researching topics, or experimenting with prompts when you don’t need to reference uploaded documents or Project content.

To open the AI Workspace:

  1. Click AI Workspace from the left-hand menu.

  2. The main chat screen will open with the message “This space isn’t tied to any project.”

  3. You can immediately start typing your question or idea in the chat box.

The AI Workspace uses a lightweight, uncluttered chat interface focused purely on conversation. It doesn’t access any of your Projects, Collections, or Vault documents, and everything you discuss here stays independent of your stored data.

Unlike Projects, the AI Workspace:

  • Has no Project File management panel, keeping the interface simple and focused on dialogue.

  • Does not include an External Knowledge toggle, ensuring that responses come only from the AI model itself.

  • Does not allow permanent file storage — any uploads are temporary and cleared when the chat ends.

  • Does not expose project-specific actions, such as indexing or structured document organization.

Because the AI Workspace isn’t linked to any Project, it’s perfect for:

  • Drafting ideas and outlines before you’re ready to organize them into a Project.

  • Exploring new topics or questions without needing to upload any documents.

  • Testing prompts and instructions directly with the AI model to refine how you interact with it.

Tips

  • Use AI Workspace when you want quick answers or creative brainstorming without document context.

  • For document-based work or in-depth research, switch to a Project or a Collection instead.

  • You can move from the AI Workspace to any Project at any time by clicking Projects in the left-hand menu.

Examples

  • A marketing manager opens AI Workspace to brainstorm tagline ideas before creating a “Brand Strategy” Project.

  • An HR professional uses it to draft new employee engagement questions without referencing company documents.

  • A research analyst experiments with prompts to refine data summaries before uploading files into a formal Project.

  • A consultant quickly explores potential business frameworks in AI Workspace before saving finalized work in a client Project.
