Short answer

Ephemeral File Upload lets you attach files to an AI Workspace chat for temporary context. The files are only available during that chat session and are deleted automatically when the session ends.

Full explanation

The Ephemeral File Upload feature allows you to experiment with data or content in your AI Workspace without saving it permanently. This is ideal for quick analysis, testing, or brainstorming using documents you don’t want to store in a Project or a Vault.

Here’s how it works:

  1. During an AI Workspace chat, click the Upload File button to attach one or more documents.

  2. The uploaded files are immediately available for the AI to reference within that session only.

  3. A “Chat Only” label appears beside your upload, clearly indicating that the files are temporary.

  4. Once the session ends or is closed, all uploaded files are automatically deleted and cannot be recovered.

This keeps your workspace clean while letting you use real data for quick experiments — without affecting any of your permanent Projects or Vaults.

Tips

  • Use Ephemeral File Upload when you want to test ideas or run quick analyses on sensitive data without saving it.

  • Remember: once you close the chat, those files are gone permanently.

  • For long-term and repeated reference, upload files to a Project instead of AI Workspace.

Examples

  • A learning and development specialist uploads a new training module draft to check how it aligns with existing employee handbooks and onboarding guides in their HR Project, using the AI’s insights to fill knowledge gaps.

  • A marketing manager uploads a new campaign brief to evaluate whether its messaging matches previously approved brand guidelines and creative assets stored in the Project.

  • A consultant uploads a draft client proposal in AI Workspace to compare tone and structure against successful past proposals stored in a Project, ensuring consistency with the firm’s style and best practices.

  • A compliance officer uploads a proposed data privacy update in AI Workspace to compare it with existing compliance documents stored in their Project. The AI highlights gaps and overlaps, and the file disappears automatically when the session ends.
