Short answer

Yes. You can use Ephemeral File Upload to attach files to an AI Workspace chat for temporary context. These files are available only during that chat session and are automatically deleted when the session ends.

Full explanation

The Ephemeral File Upload feature lets you experiment with or analyze documents inside an AI Workspace chat — without storing them permanently in a Project. It’s designed for quick, one-time interactions with data you don’t want to save.

Here’s how it works:

  1. In an AI Workspace chat, click the Plus (+) at the bottom left corner of the chat box button to attach one or more documents.

  2. The uploaded files are used by the AI only for that session to provide additional context or comparisons.

  3. A “Chat Only” label appears beside the upload, clearly indicating that these files are temporary.

  4. When the chat session ends, all uploaded files are automatically deleted and cannot be recovered.

This is ideal for testing, brainstorming, or reviewing sensitive content that shouldn’t be saved in a Project. You can even reference documents stored in a Project while temporarily uploading new ones to compare, analyze, or experiment safely.

Tips

  • Use Ephemeral File Upload for temporary analysis or private drafts you don’t want or need to store permanently.

  • Upload files in AI Workspace to test ideas quickly. Upload them in a Project only when you want them to persist.

  • Watch for the “Chat Only” label. This is your confirmation that the files are temporary.

Examples

  • A consultant uploads a draft proposal in AI Workspace to compare it with finalized versions stored in a Project, ensuring alignment in tone and structure.

  • A marketing specialist attaches a new campaign outline to test it against the brand guidelines saved in their Project.

  • A compliance officer temporarily uploads a regulation update to analyze differences with existing compliance documentation.

  • A product manager uploads a draft user guide section to verify it matches terminology used in official manuals stored in the Project.
