Short answer
You can now use Deepen Answer only once per assistant message. After an answer is deepened, the option is no longer available for that message or its follow up result.

Full explanation
Deepen Answer allows you to expand an AI response with more detail, context, or explanation. To improve clarity and keep responses easy to follow, Deepen Answer is now limited to a single use per assistant message.

When you click Deepen Answer, the system generates an expanded version of the original response. After that, the Deepen Answer option is removed for both the original message and the deepened result. This prevents repeated nesting, where answers become increasingly layered and harder to interpret.

This change also helps control processing costs and ensures consistent performance across the platform. Importantly, this update does not affect any existing deepened answers. All previously generated deepen results remain available and unchanged.

If you need more detail after using Deepen Answer, you can always ask a new follow up question or reframe your request to guide the AI in a different direction.

Tips

  • Use Deepen Answer when you want a clear and meaningful expansion of an initial response.

  • If you need additional clarification after deepening, ask a new follow up question instead of relying on further nesting.

  • Be specific in your original question to reduce the need for multiple expansions.

Examples

  • A law firm receives a summary of a regulation and uses Deepen Answer to get more detail. If further clarification is needed, they ask a new question about a specific clause.

  • An accounting firm deepens an explanation of a tax rule once, then follows up with a separate question about how it applies to a specific client scenario.

  • A healthcare provider deepens guidance on compliance documentation, then asks a new question focused on internal audit preparation.
