  1. Summary

This article explains how to rename, move, and delete files in your AskTuring.ai project using the file options menu. Use these steps to keep your workspace organized and remove files you no longer need.

  1. Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in to your AskTuring.ai account.

  • You must have access to the project that contains the files you want to manage.

  • Your role in the workspace must allow you to modify and delete project files.

  1. Step-by-step instructions

A. Rename a file

  1. Open the file options menu

    • In your project’s files area, find the file you want to rename.

    • Click the vertical ellipsis icon (three vertical dots) next to the file name to open the options menu.

  2. Select Rename File

    • From the dropdown menu, click Rename File.

    • A rename field or dialog will appear where you can edit the file name.

  3. Enter the new name and save

    • Type the new name for your file.

    • Confirm the change (for example, by pressing Enter or clicking a confirmation button, depending on the interface).

    • The file list will update to show the new name.

B. Move a file to a different location

  1. Open the file options menu for the file you want to move

    • In the files list, locate the file you want to move (for example, Sanfransico.webp).

    • Click the vertical ellipsis icon next to that file to open the options menu.

  2. Choose the new location and move the file

    • A move dialog or folder picker will appear.

    • Browse and select the folder or destination where you want to place the file.

    • Click Move Here to confirm.

    • The file will be relocated and will now appear in the selected folder or section.

C. Delete a file

  1. Open the file options menu for the file you want to delete

    • Go to the relevant section or folder (for example, Inbox) in your project’s files area.

    • Find the file you want to remove.

    • Click the vertical ellipsis icon next to that file to open the options menu.

  2. Select Delete File

    • From the dropdown menu, click Delete File.

    • A confirmation dialog will appear to make sure you want to remove the file.

  3. Confirm deletion

    • In the confirmation dialog, click Delete to confirm the removal.

    • The file will be deleted from the project and will no longer appear in your files list.

  4. Tips or notes

  • Renaming files does not change their content, only how they appear in your project.

  • Moving a file may affect where team members expect to find it; consider agreeing on a folder structure with your team.

  • Deleting a file is typically permanent and may affect Project Chat or any workflows that rely on that file. Make sure you no longer need the file before confirming deletion.

  • If you do not see options like Rename File, Move, or Delete File, your workspace role may have limited permissions. Contact your workspace admin for access.
