Social Analytics previously used a different kind of date filter compared to the Impact Dashboard. Social Analytics used “post date” while the Impact Dashboard used “insight date”. Depending on how you are wanting to see post data, you may use these areas differently to report on.

What’s the difference between “post date” and “insight date”?

Post Date shows the data based on the date the social post was posted.

For example, let’s say you set the date filter to January 1st to January 15th, 2023. We will show all the posts that were created during that time frame and the all-time metrics that are associated with those posts.

Insight Date is the date that the posts’ social data was last updated in Aspire. This means that social posts created before the time frame selected will appear as part of the data if they have new metrics (i.e. engagements, impressions) during that time frame.

For example, if the date filter is set to January 1st to January 15, 2023, we will show all the social posts that have generated metrics during this time. That means if a creator posted on December 1st, 2022 and continued to receive engagements on that post between January 1st and January 15th of 2023, their post will be included. If a social post was posted within this date range (for example, January 9th, 2023), that posts data will be included, but only data that has been updated in Aspire until January 15th, 2023.

Which type of date filter does Social Analytics and the Impact Dashboard use?

Social Analytics has been updated to use the filter for “insight date” moving forward. However, when filtering by date in Social Analytics, you will see an option to select a checkbox to change the data back to report based on “post date”

Impact Dashboard uses only “insight date” to filter the data.

Why am I seeing posts that have gone live outside of the date range I selected?

When using the date range filter, if you only want to see posts that have gone live during that time range, you'll need to check the box that says "Only show metrics for posts that have gone live during the above time ranges" (screenshot below). Otherwise, we'll include posts outside this time range if they have garnered new metrics during the period selected.
