This article explains the key differences between Flexible Briefs and Standard Briefs

💡 Note: Flexible Briefs are currently in beta. If you do not see Flexible Briefs as an option for your projects, please contact Aspire Support at help@aspire.io to add this feature to your account.

Overview

Aspire's collaboration workflows are designed to support a wide range of creator partnerships. Depending on your campaign goals, you can send creators one of two types of briefs: Standard Briefs or Flexible Briefs.

Standard Briefs

Standard Briefs provide a structured agreement between your brand and the creator. They outline the collaboration requirements, including deliverables, due dates, ad access, and other collaboration details to ensure everyone has a shared understanding of campaign expectations before work begins.

Flexible Briefs

Flexible Briefs provide creators with more freedom in how they complete a collaboration. Rather than requiring a specific content format or rigid timelines, they allow creators to choose from approved content options and publish on the platform that best fits their audience.

Flexible vs. Standard Briefs

Flexible Briefs

Standard Briefs

Flexible content types – Allow creators to complete any one of the requested deliverables (for example, an Instagram Post, Instagram Reel, or TikTok video).

Fixed content requirements – Require creators to complete specific deliverables (for example, one Instagram Reel and one TikTok video).

Optional due dates – No required content deadlines.

Content approval – Require creators to submit content for review before publishing.

Easy-to-use templates – Save templates with preconfigured settings for faster brief creation.

Required due dates – Set deadlines that creators are expected to meet.

Ad permissions – Request Instagram Paid Partnership Ads, Allowlisting, or TikTok Spark Ads permissions upfront.

Bulk payment customization – Assign different payment amounts to individual creators when sending briefs in bulk.

Creators can edit briefs – Allow creators to propose changes before accepting the collaboration.

When to Use Flexible Briefs

Flexible Briefs are a good fit when:

  • You're activating a large number of creators and want the simplest onboarding experience.

  • You're comfortable letting creators choose which approved content type to create (for example, one Instagram Reel or one TikTok video).

  • You don't have strict posting deadlines.

  • You're offering a fixed flat fee or no payment.

  • You don't need creators to submit content for approval before posting.

When to Use Standard Briefs

Standard Briefs are a better fit when:

  • You need creators to produce specific deliverables (for example, one Instagram Reel and one TikTok video).

  • Your campaign has fixed content deadlines.

  • You want to request ad permissions before the collaboration begins.

  • You need to assign different payment amounts to individual creators.

  • You require content review and approval before creators publish.

💡 Beta Limitations

While Flexible Briefs are in beta, please note the following:

  • Creators must connect their Instagram Insights to Aspire before submitting an Instagram Story deliverable.

  • Pinterest Pin submissions are not currently supported with Flexible Briefs.

Setting Up Your Default Brief Type

After deciding which brief type best fits your campaign, you can configure your project's default brief template.

  1. Open your project.

  2. Navigate to Project Settings > Briefs.

  3. Select your default brief type.

  4. Click Edit Template to customize the brief.

By default, Flexible Briefs are selected for all new projects.
