Your Profile is where you can truly make Astromystic your own. Customize your profile, tweak the AI's personality, and tailor your experience to your heart's content. There's a surprising amount of flexibility here, so feel free to experiment and see what works best for you.

Understanding AI

First, let's talk a bit about how AI works. Unlike pressing a button or selecting exact coordinates from a dropdown menu, AI operates in a more fluid and interpretive manner. It's not always 100% accurate, but that's part of its charm and potential. Think of interacting with Astromystic as having a conversation with a knowledgeable guide who understands your intentions and helps facilitate them through natural language. The AI isn't "smarter" than you—it's here to assist you by understanding and interpreting what you say.

Profile Information

First up in Your Profile (available in the dropdown in the upper right) is your profile information. Here, you can change your name, email address, and most importantly, your Natal Chart and Personal Information.

When you first signed on to Astromystic and provided your birth location, Astromystic calculated the positions of the planets and stars at your birth and saved that information here. Feel free to edit any information you find inaccurate or wish to change.

NOTE: It's crucial to keep the date, time, and location of your birth accurate. Use either the timezone in language format (e.g., Los Angeles/America) or UTC (e.g., -8 for PDT). This information helps Astromystic accurately determine the positions of celestial bodies for astrological calculations.

Adjusting Your Natal Chart to Match Your Understanding

Astromystic calculates your natal chart using UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) without accounting for Daylight Savings Time (DST) adjustments. While this approach aligns with centuries of astrological tradition and provides a consistent foundation, we understand that it might occasionally conflict with your personal understanding of your chart, particularly when it comes to your ascendant sign.

Your ascendant sign—the sign on the Eastern horizon at the exact moment of your birth—can be highly sensitive to even small variations in birth time. Since DST and time zone calculations can create discrepancies, you might find that the ascendant sign Astromystic calculates differs from what you believe it to be.

If this happens, you can manually adjust your birth time to better align with your personal understanding. Here's how:

When and Why to Adjust

  1. Daylight Savings Time Discrepancies: If you were born during a time of year when your location observes DST, Astromystic’s UTC-based calculations will not account for the extra hour added by DST. For example, if your local birth time was 8:43 AM during DST and Astromystic uses GMT+10 instead of GMT+11 for your location, this could result in a different ascendant sign.

  2. Cross-Referencing Other Apps or Astrologers: If a third-party tool (like TimeNomad) or your astrologer provides a different ascendant based on their adjustments, you may want to tweak your input in Astromystic to align with those insights.

How to Adjust Your Chart

  1. Understand the UTC Offset: First, confirm the UTC offset for your location at the time of your birth. This will usually be either standard time (e.g., GMT+10 for Melbourne, Australia) or DST-adjusted time (e.g., GMT+11 during DST).

  2. "Fudge" the Numbers: If you believe your ascendant sign should be different, you can shift the birth time you enter into Astromystic to better reflect your expectations. For example:

  3. If Astromystic calculates an Aries ascendant but you believe you are a Pisces ascendant, and the discrepancy stems from DST, try entering a birth time one hour earlier.

  4. Run the chart again and check the results.

  5. Trust Your Intuition: Astrology is both an art and a science. If you feel deeply connected to a particular ascendant sign, adjusting your input time to reflect that is perfectly valid. Many users find this approach aligns the chart with their lived experience or personal sense of identity.

Example

Let’s say you were born on February 22, 1974, at 8:43 AM in Melbourne, Australia.

  • Astromystic uses GMT+10 by default for Melbourne, producing an Aries ascendant.

  • However, you know Melbourne was observing DST at the time, so the correct offset should be GMT+11. To account for this, adjust your birth time to 7:43 AM before generating your chart again.

  • This adjustment may yield a Pisces ascendant, aligning with other tools or your understanding.

Final Thoughts

Astromystic's use of UTC and omission of DST adjustments ensures a consistent and traditional framework. However, astrology is deeply personal, and tweaking your input time to better fit your sense of self or external references is an accepted practice. Feel free to experiment with slight variations until your chart resonates fully with your understanding. Let us know if you have any questions or need further support!

Additional Charts

You can also add birth information for your friends, family, or anyone else you'd like to keep handy. Astromystic uses this information, so you can refer to these people by name in the Astromystic Portal when asking questions.

In addition, you also have the option to include any details you know about yourself from other astrological applications. This can include information such as “progressed” Sun or Rising Signs. By adding these details, Astromystic can use the provided information to better customize your experience, delivering even more personalized and insightful astrological guidance.

Personal Customization

Experiment with different kinds of customization. You can have Astromystic call you by a specific name (e.g., "Call me goddess!") and even specify the kind of personality or responses you'd like (e.g., "Don't use the word 'cosmos' all the time", or "Keep it real, don't go easy on me!" or "Always end with a positive affirmation."). Make Astromystic uniquely yours with these personal touches.

When you're done customizing your personal information, be sure to click Save to record all changes to your Profile.

Restart Welcome Message

If you want Astromystic to recalculate your natal chart information, you can tap this button to restart the "Welcome Message" you received when you first signed up. This process is non-destructive—no messages will be deleted, and your profile will remain intact. Astromystic will simply add the new information to your profile. You might need to edit your profile afterwards to remove any duplicates, but this is a convenient way to ensure Astromystic knows your natal chart as well as you do!

Personal Preferences

In addition to natural language customization, Astromystic offers direct feature settings. Currently, there's one: Voice response. Users on the Sage and/or Oracle tiers can choose whether they want their responses read in a female or male voice. Make your selection, and Astromystic will oblige in future interactions.
