USDT (Tether) is a stablecoin — a type of cryptocurrency designed to maintain a stable value by staying pegged to the US dollar. This means 1 USDT always equals 1 USD, regardless of market conditions.

Why USDT is useful

  • It holds a stable value, so you're not exposed to the price volatility typical of other cryptocurrencies.

  • It can be sent and received globally, 24/7, without going through traditional banking systems.

  • Transactions are typically faster and cheaper than international wire transfers.

How USDT works in AstroPay

AstroPay gives you a USDT wallet where you can:

  • Receive USDT from external wallets or exchanges.

  • Buy and sell USDT using your local currency.

  • Use your USDT balance with the AstroCard.

  • Send USDT to other wallets or exchanges.

USDT transfers in AstroPay run on four blockchain networks: Ethereum (ERC-20), Tron (TRC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BSC), and Polygon. Each network may carry a different fee.

Your USDT balance is always denominated in US dollars, making it easy to track alongside your other funds.
