Understand refunds on AstroCard purchases

Learn how refunds work on AstroCard purchases, how long they take, and where the funds are credited.

If a merchant approves a refund for a purchase made with your AstroCard, the funds are returned directly to your AstroPay balance — no action required on your end.

How refunds work

Refunds are processed by the merchant and then credited back to your account through the card network. AstroPay credits the funds to your balance as soon as we receive them from the network.

Processing times

  • General: most refunds are credited within 15 to 30 business days from the date the merchant approves the refund.

  • Argentina (card purchases): refunds may take up to 15 days to be credited

ℹ️ Note: Processing times depend on the merchant and the card network — AstroPay cannot accelerate this process once the refund is initiated by the merchant.

Where to track your refund

You can monitor incoming refunds in your Transaction History in the app. Once credited, the amount will appear as a positive entry on your AstroPay balance.

What to do if your refund hasn't arrived

  • Confirm with the merchant that the refund was approved and note the date.

  • Wait until the full processing window has passed before escalating.

  • If the processing time has passed and the refund still hasn't appeared, contact the merchant with the refund confirmation details.
