If a bill payment didn't go through, one of the reasons below usually explains why.

Common reasons a bill payment fails

  • Insufficient balance. The total amount, including any service fee, must be available in your AstroPay wallet at the time of payment.

  • Incorrect details. A wrong account number, customer ID, or barcode will cause the payment to be rejected. Verify the data on the original bill.

  • Bill already paid. If the biller already received a payment for that reference, the new attempt will fail.

  • Bill expired or not yet available. Some billers only accept payments within a specific window. Check the due date and the earliest payment date.

  • Biller temporarily unavailable. The service provider may be in maintenance or offline. Try again in a few hours.

  • Payment limits exceeded. Bill payments are subject to limits based on your country and verification level.

  • Account restriction. If your account has an active restriction, bill payments may be blocked until it's resolved.

If the amount was deducted but the bill is not marked as paid

In some cases, the amount may appear as deducted while the biller has not yet confirmed receipt. Check the following:

  1. Open Transaction History in the app.

  2. Find the bill payment and check its status — Pending, Completed, or Reversed.

  3. If the status is Reversed, the funds will be returned to your balance automatically.

ℹ️ Note: Some billers can take up to 72 business hours to reflect a payment on their side, even after the transaction shows as completed in AstroPay.

Before trying again

  • Confirm your AstroPay balance covers the full amount.

  • Double-check the biller and reference details.

  • If the biller is unavailable, wait a few hours and try again.
