Need to drop a shift you're scheduled for? This tutorial will guide you through the process of requesting to drop a shift.

Initiating a Drop Request

  1. Access the Shift: From your schedule, click on the specific shift you wish to drop. This will open a detailed view of the shift's information.

  2. Locate "Request to drop this shift" Option: You'll find it right below the program name.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip: Share the Shift Link! As you request to drop a shift, consider copying the link to the shift and sharing it directly with colleagues who might be interested in picking it up. If someone claims the shift once it's available, it significantly increases the likelihood of your drop request being approved by your administrator (admin).

  3. Review Drop Request Instructions: Before proceeding, the software will display important information regarding drop requests. This typically includes:

    • Visibility to Others: The shift will be made available on a "trade board" or similar platform for other qualified employees to see and claim. This is accessed by staff when the toggle on the "Show open shifts" on the home screen.

    • Admin Review: Your request will be reviewed by your manager or admin.

    • Approval Notification: You'll receive a notification once your request has been approved.

    • Continued Responsibility: You are still scheduled for and responsible for the shift until you receive an official approval notification.

  4. Provide a Reason (Optional but Recommended): You'll typically be prompted to provide a reason for dropping the shift (e.g., "I'm sick," "Personal appointment", etc.). This helps your admin understand the situation.

  5. Send a Message to Admin(s) (Optional): If needed, you can send a message directly to your admin within the drop request.

  6. Submit Request: Once you've entered the necessary information, confirm and submit your drop request.

What Happens Next (Admin's Perspective)

Once you submit your request, your admin will see it pending their review. They'll have options such as:

  • Assign a Replacement: If someone has already expressed interest or they have someone in mind, they can assign a replacement directly.

  • Release Assignment: This makes the shift available for others to claim.

  • Remove from Shift: This effectively drops you from the shift without immediate replacement.

Confirmation of Approval

After your admin processes your request, you'll receive a notification confirming that your shift drop has been approved. You can also check the "Requests" section within your account to see the status of your drop request. Once approved, you're officially removed from that shift.
