💬 The Staff Guide to Messaging & Notifications

Stay connected, stay informed, and never miss a shift update.

Athletify keeps all your work conversations in one place, so you don't have to share your personal phone number or dig through emails to find team updates.

1. Channels vs. Direct Messages

There are two ways to communicate within the app:

  • Channels: These are group spaces created by your admins for specific teams (e.g., "Aquatics Team" or "Weekend Staff").

    • Announcement Channels: Some channels are "read-only." Only admins can post here—these are for high-priority updates.

    • Discussion Channels: These allow everyone to reply, ask questions, and collaborate.

  • Direct Messages (DMs): These are private conversations for individuals or small custom groups. To start one, just click the New Message icon.

2. Smart Messaging Features

  • Read Receipts: You can see exactly who has read your message and what time they saw it—no more wondering if your teammate got your note!

  • Emoji Reactions: Want to acknowledge a message quickly? Use an emoji reaction to show you’ve seen it without typing a full reply.

  • Pinning: If there is a specific channel or DM you use every day, Pin it to the top so you don't have to search for it.

3. Never Miss a Beat: Push Notifications

Athletify sends real-time alerts directly to your mobile device so you’re always in the know. You will receive notifications for:

  • New Messages: Both in your DMs and active channels.

  • New Shifts: Get alerted the moment a new schedule is published.

  • Upcoming Shifts: A friendly reminder before your work begins.

  • Request Updates: Instant confirmation when your time-off or shift-claim requests are approved or denied.

💡 Pro-Tip for Staff

Keep your notifications ON! Because Athletify handles your shift approvals and schedule changes, having push notifications enabled is the best way to ensure you don't miss an opportunity to pick up a shift or a last-minute update from your manager.
