How to send a shipment to Atomix

This article outlines the receiving guidelines for shipments sent to Atomix. It includes information on how to properly label shipments, requirements for packaging, and the importance of providing accurate shipment details.

We encourage you to review these receiving guidelines with your manufacturers to ensure compliance and avoid any delays in the receiving process.

1. PROVIDING REQUIRED DATA

The first step to getting your inventory on the shelves of the warehouse and out to your customers is providing Atomix with detailed information about what you're sending.

FAQ: Where do I provide the data Atomix needs?

Creating a Receiving Shipment in the Atomix App is the first step to providing this info.

FAQ: When do I need to provide this data?

Data must be provided at least five days before the shipment arrives.

ATOMIX REQUIREMET FOR SHIPMENT DATA

All Receiving Shipments MUST be entered in the Atomix Platform AT LEAST 5 business days prior to their arrival at our warehouses.

FAQ: What happens if I fail to provide required data?

Atomix cannot receive your shipment until we have received all the inventory and information relevant to the receiving shipment. Failing to provide this information is the number one reason for delay.

For Atomix to correctly inbound your inventory, Atomix must have all data necessary (boxes and inventory labeled correctly, and warehouse shipment submitted.) Atomix must also receive all the inventory from a shipment before the receiving process begins.

2. SENDING INVENTORY TO ATOMIX

We want to make it as easy as possible for you (and for us!) to get your inventory on the shelves and out the door. Please review the following receiving requirements carefully, and ask your account manager if you have any questions.

FAQ: Where should I send my inventory?

Inventory can be shipped to our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location or our newly established Salt Lake City facility in Utah.

Clients must get approval from their account manager before sending inventory to our Salt Lake City facility, please note that we will only be accepting shipments from April 15th, 2024, onwards.

FAQ: What are your receiving hours?

Atomix receives inventory between 9am and 3pm T-F.

For full trucks, containers, or shipments of more than 20 pallets, please reach out to our team via the Atomix Platform.


3. PALLET REQUIREMENTS

Please carefully review the requirements outlined below when sending pallets to Atomix and share this information with your co-packer and manufacturer.

FAQ: What are the height and weight requirements for pallets?

Pallets can not exceed 60'' and cannot exceed 2,800 pounds.

ATOMIX REQUIREMENT FOR PALLET WEIGHT AND HEIGHT

Unless explicitly discussed with your account manager, a single pallet cannot exceed 60'' (inches) in height, from the floor to the top of the pallet. Standard Pallet Dimensions are 40''x48''x60''. Pallets cannot exceed 2,800 pounds.

FAQ: Does Atomix accept mixed pallets?

Atomix does accept mixed pallets. Mixed pallets must be properly labeled.

FAQ: Does Atomix require a packing list?

Yes, a packing list is required for all shipments. Please see a sample list here, which can be used as a template for your shipments.

FAQ: What are the labeling requirements for pallets?

All Pallets must be labeled with the brand name, receiving PO number, pallet number, and include a packing list.

If the inventory on the pallet contains multiple lots or expiration dates that must be tracked, this MUST be noted on the pallet signage and packing slip.

FAQ: Do pallets need to be wrapped?

Pallets must be securely wrapped. If your pallet is not wrapped in clear wrapping, Atomix will unpack the pallet and re-wrap, this will be billed to the client as a special project.

FAQ: I don't know how many pallets are being sent to Atomix, can the warehouse team figure it out when they get there?

It's the responsibility of our brand partners to provide accurate information about what is being delivered. Please share receiving guidelines with your manufacturers and co-packers to avoid surprises and issues which can quickly add up in terms of time and cost.

If you're unable to provide information on a shipment, a head's up via the Atomix platform to our CX team is appreciated, however letting us know in advance that the information you've provided may not be correct does not mean that the shipment won't incur fees for correcting the information or any other corrective action Atomix must take.

THE VISUAL GUIDE TO PALLETS

PROBLEM PALLET: EXAMPLE 1

  • Boxes are not uniformly stacked

  • Box labels face the wrong way, or are missing

  • Loose items thrown on top of the pallet and not secure

  • Missing pallet signage

  • Space between boxes, boxes not packed tightly and evenly

  • SKUs not organized on pallet

PROBLEM PALLET: EXAMPLE 2

  • Boxes poorly packed and wrapped

  • Pallet has too many heavy layers that are unsupported

  • Pallet is dangerous and falling over

  • Pallet wrap does not extend from top to bottom of the pallet

  • Boxes are not stacked uniformly

  • Boxes stick out the sides of the pallet

  • Boxes missing labels

  • Pallet signage missing

  • Box labels turned inside

  • Box labels not formatted according to guidelines

  • Boxes not stacked evenly on pallet, or filling pallet properly


4. BOX REQUIREMENTS

FAQ: Can I send Atomix boxes instead of pallets?

Yes you can.

FAQ: What are the size and weight requirements for boxes?

Boxes cannot exceed 40lbs. For abnormal box dimensions, please reach out to your account manager for approval.

FAQ: Can I put different SKUs in the same box?

Multiple SKUs can be included in each box, however the boxes MUST be properly labeled, and their contents included on the packing slip.

Atomix understands that not all shipments are exactly the same. If you cannot send one SKU per box, please reach out to your account manager to receive approval for an alternative packaging method.

If approved, each box must be explicitly and clearly labeled with the SKUs, which are clearly labeled and packaged together, the number of boxes per SKU, and the number of items in the respective box. This information is required.

SKUs cannot be loose or tucked into boxes. SKUs MUST be packaged, labeled, and documented.

FAQ: Can I send you a whole shipping container of loose boxes?

Yes. Repalletizing a shipment will be billed hourly and is a requirement to receive loose boxes. If you send us loose boxes, we will palletize them.

FAQ: What labels are required on boxes with full case packs?

All boxes - regardless of if they're sent on a pallet or not, must have the following information included on the label.

FAQ: What labels are required for boxes that contain multiple SKUs?

All boxes that contain multiple SKUs MUST have this noted on the box and have the following information included on the label. Please note that boxes with multiple SKUs may require the Atomix receiving team to re-box and re-label boxes for storage, which will be billed hourly.

5. PRODUCT LABELING REQUIREMENTS

Do my products need to be barcoded?

All inventory must be barcoded. Barcodes (UPCs) are the backbone of our verification and inventory management strategy. If inventory is not barcoded, we can provide a stickering service of barcodes for $0.25/sticker, at a rate of $60 per hour. Sending items without barcodes, even if Atomix is notified in advance, will add time to the receipt of your shipment.

I have breakable/soft products, is that okay?

It's your choice how your inventory is stored and sent to us. Please note that Atomix is not responsible for any dust that may accumulate on inventory without protective packaging. For breakable items, it is the brand's responsibility to pack them carefully for safe storage within the warehouse.

My product is perishable and I need lot numbers and expiration dates tracked. What labels are required for this?

Lot number and expiration date MUST be included and clearly on the physical product we receive from your manufacturer, as well as on case packs and master cartons. Without this information we can not track your expiration dates or lots.

My product requires temperature control. What kind of labels are required?

Atomix provides temperature control. Any requirements MUST be communicated to your account manager. All boxes that contain product that needs to be stored at a specific temperature MUST be labeled with the requirements.

My manufacturer screwed up! All my SKUs and UPCs are wrong. What do I do?

If there is an issue with a SKU or UPC on your product, Atomix will need to re-label the product. This will be done by Atomix and will cost $0.25/sticker, at a rate of $60 per hour.


6. RECEIVING TIMELINE

Our receiving timeline depends on the condition of the shipment that arrives at our dock. We strive to make receiving fast, accurate, and easy for our clients and for our team.

FAQ: How long does it take to receive my inventory?

A shipment that is correctly input into the Atomix App, correctly labeled by the manufacturer, and arrives intact takes approximately five business days to receive not including Mondays. SLA starts the day after the inbound shipment has been dropped at the Atomix Facility.

If a shipment is NOT put into the platform 5 DAYS before arrival, the shipment will take an EXTRA 10 to 15 DAYS to receive.

The size of the shipment and any additional work required by the Atomix team can add time to receiving. This is assessed on a case by case basis.


7. EXPEDITING RECEIVING

FAQ: Can I pay more for a faster receiving?

Yes! Atomix offers the option to expedite a shipment at an additional charge, and on a case-by-case basis. The shipment MUST arrive by noon in full the previous day to qualify for next day expediting.

8. PENALTIES AND CHANGES TO TIMELINE

FAQ: If I don't follow the instructions in this article, what will happen?

The Atomix Team will only be able to receive inventory if a Warehouse Shipment is submitted through the Atomix platform. The Warehouse Shipment is required so that we are able to properly inbound your inventory within 5 days of receiving it.

Failure to comply with these requirements leaves you subject to additional special project fees, barcode fees and delays, the value of which will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

If the Warehouse Shipment is not correctly entered in the system 5 Business Days prior to arriving at the Atomix Facility, Receiving Delays will occur until the Shipment is properly inputted to the platform.
