Analysing the results of grid questions

Understand the data from your grid questions in your results dashboard.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When looking at grid questions on your results dashboard, you'll see the percentage of respondents who voted for each of the answers, under each subject field. If using single choice answers, each vertical column will add up to 100%, as each respondent must choose just one answer under that subject field. If you're running a multiple choice grid question, the columns won't total 100% of respondents because each respondent can choose a different number of answers to select.

You can merge your answers to make the results easier to read, by selecting the answers you want to combine and clicking on "Merge answers".

Visualising grid questions as charts

You can change from default view to a chart by clicking on "Edit" and choosing from various chart types such as column, bar, stacked etc, as well as change your colours. You can also remove certain answers or subjects from the chart if you wanted to focus on just a select few.

Comparing grid questions

If you want to analyse how different segments have responded to your grid question or how the results have changed over time, you can use the "Split by" options in the left-hand side panel. Choose what you want to split your data by and how you want to visualise this: Charts or crosstabs. You will also be able to see where there are statistically significant differences in how these groups of respondents have answered your question.

To limit the amount of information shown on one chart, you'll be able to choose if you want to view all subjects on the chart (e.g. Facebook, TikTok, Instagram) for each individual answer (e.g. Daily, Less than once a day) or the other way around.
