Can I create a children’s book or picture book by adding all of my images to a single chapter?

Updated over 2 months ago

Yes, however, this can cause strains on our system and can lead to export failures later down the road.

We recommend crafting picture books by using full-page images rather than importing them into a single chapter. This will prevent you from experiencing lagging issues due to the overall file size of the chapter and provide you with much greater control over how the images will be spread through the book.

To add a Full Page Image:

  • Click the three dots next to "Add Chapter."

  • Select "Full Page Image" from the menu that pops up.

  • In the Content Editor, you'll see options for the image. On the right navigation pane, you'll see "Full Page Image."

  • Click on the Full Page Image in the Content Editor, and you can rename it by replacing "Fullpage Image" above the image.

  • To insert your image, you can either choose from your uploaded images in "My Image Gallery" or click on the gray box to upload a new image.

  • After adding your image, simply drag this page to where you want it in your book.

If you want your images to bleed to the edge of the page, the images will need to be sized to precisely match the proportions of the printed page size, plus an additional .125 inch width and .25 inch height. This will ensure that there's no white space beneath the image. If you require assistance in determining the dimensions of full-page images with bleed, we have a calculator in this tutorial: https://www.atticus.io/calculate-image-size-for-print-and-ebooks/
